2016-17 Silly Season. Drivers Market

Firstly I am surprised but actually quite happy that Dani Kyvat is going to be given a proper go because most of the season he's been kicked in the balls brutally by the management

Its an insult to Pierre Gasly who seemed to have an upturn of form once he was given a test by Toro Rosso but then lately has been outpeformed by his teammate. He must have been thinking he was ready for F1 when he was being asked to attend races
Now he will have to spend the year as development driver or do Indy if he is GP2 champion as he is not high on any of the other team's wishlist - Force India, Manor , Williams or Renault

Renault already have their preferred Frenchman in Ocon and would not be keen helping Red Bull develop their driver seeing they potentially also have Oliver Rowland waiting in the wings

The Sainz situaion could get interesting given the car is not developing and he's beginning to realise he is being held back compared to Verstappen

I hate to say this but Sainz needs to realise that he's been treated whenever it is decision between him and Verstappen the decision has so far always been to go with Max

- when he thought he was the favourite to be promoted in 2015 to Toro Rosso then out of the blue Verstappen was announced first which made everyone wonder if he was going to be promoted

- who'a getting the first shot at the big team - Max

He's proven he deserves a top team drive and needs to be in one by 2018

To continue your final sentence:
and Kvyat demonstrated an inability to deliver in a top team and has been, at best, mediocre since his switch to Toro Rosso.
Kvyat doesn't deserve more than Sainz.

I can't remember a driver being constantly berated by his bosses in public without dropping and completely destroy his confidence since Piquet jr

Red Bull went from praising Kyvat at China for being bold and racy against Vettel to publicly throwing him under a bus at Russia because Vettel was mouthing in colourful words about his driving

Well poll on the BBC showed 54% yes to 46% no for Kyvat

I seem to remember Vettel making a lot of amateur errors in 2009 and 2010 and Red Bull defended him because he's young

I wonder whether theyve looked at GP2. Considering 2 prema Teammates gasly had 27 GP2/17 FR3.5, Giovinazzi 0.
Yet the complete rookie has arguably outshone his rated Teammate as Giovinazzi 8 podiums 5 wins 197pts to Gasly 8 podiums 3 wins 190pts

F1Brits_90 Gasly finds himself in the situation Da Costa was in - who was expected to be promoted but fluffed up in FR3.5 and Sainz who was expected to be promoted as the No 1 choice to Toro Rosso and suddenly got overlooked for Verstappen

It does make you wonder when all the rumours appeared to be gaining that Gasly is to be promoted. Trouble for Gasly I don't see how a season of DTM will help him if they want him to do that or asking him to do a 1 year of Indy.

There is a serious bottleneck at Red Bull with the 4 current drivers with 3 of them Red Bull have tried to warn off suitors but one of those 3 has expressed that he is not prepared to wait around for his turn on the main team

Bill Boddy That was a fantastic race by Sainz to compensate the year old Ferrari engine and just remind people what he is capable

Red Bull have told Renault hands off many times but seriously is Carlos brave enough to do it for the sake of his own career? I go to Schumacher 's ugly decision at Jordan he saw Benetton was going to be better long run and joined them

I am not saying it is going to get that nasty between Red Bull and Renault but the only way he will get into Red Bull is either current driver moves on after next season otherwise he needs to move

It appears Felipe Nasr might get the second Force India seat and bring some Brazilian sponsorship to that team.. that would be some lifeline given he has done nothing to warrant another chance this season and the accusations that he is a pay driver continues

RasputinLives No but at least trounce your teammate because Ericsson is not rated at all but this season has been the better of the two drivers whilst Nasr has been moaning too much

Sauber are actually in the bank of Brazil livery of blue and yellow I might add which is no doubt thanks to Nasr getting the drive

Interesting Audi will not take part in Le Mans next season and concerntrate on Formula E . Now is that linked to Giovinazzi having a test with them because I don't believe he will want to win GP2 and not get into F1

Incidentally it would put Audi in direct competition with Mercedes in Formula E potentially

Ericsson used to come very highly rated in his junior career. got signed by Dams in GP2 for that exact reason. unfortunately that year, whilst being quick, he was plagued with a large amount of DNFs. He was still one of quickest drivers in the field though.
