Football 2011/12 Football Season

Looks like it's Man city's to lose now in the Premiership, unless Man United reserves (Sunderland) and United old boy Sparky Hughes do the business for United next week.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Blackburn are relegated, about blooming time :). Just what they've deserved over the past couple of years :). No more Boring Blackburn in the Premier League.

Ever since Venky's took over..... one of my friends is a pretty diehard Rovers fan - he says that Venky's are too naive, they don't do agents fees so they can't play players many times, sacked an executive (who was at Blackburn for 20 years, and is now at Man City) and they have 'no idea what they're doing'. To top it all off, Blackburn turned down a bid from the Qatari's in favour of Venky's.

Watched the game last night, Blackburn's idiot fans got exactly what they deserved. If only Wigan would play like they have done over the past few months, for the entire season.
I heard on the radio last night that Venky's thought that the Premier League was like the American MLS franchise system, in that no team could get relegated. OopsROFL

No way they thought thatROFL. I mean if that's true, we know why the Blackburn supporters hate those guys. But anyway you're right they should have supported their team, like you say through thick and thin...They could have protested after the match!!!

I also remember Venky's stating that they thought "4th or 5th" place was a realistic target and that they would be giving the manager £5 million with which to achieve this, stating boldly "if we need to spend £5million then we'll spend £5 million". That's a lot of chickensROFL

My theory is that the amount of teams relegated should be discretionary. For example, I believe the Premier League would be a better quality competition next year if Reading, Southampton, West Ham, Birmingham, Blackpool and Cardiff replaced Villa, Wigan, Bolton, QPR, Blackburn and Wolves.

It takes a real crap team to get 40 points or less, frankly.

Having watched West Ham v Cardiff yesterday afternoon, I vehemently disagree.

Two hours I'll never get back.

Did you watch Blackburn vs Wigan? Or for that matter, Villa vs anyone? LOL

Anyway, I think Cardiff are just unfortuanate play-off chokers, while it is disappointing how difficult it is to keep Allardyce out of the top flight!

I thought Wigan looked decent last night, just lacking something extra in the final third. And bear in mind Villa have won the European cup in the last 30 years, whereas Blackpool, West Ham, Reading etc can only dream of getting near a domestic cup in the next 30, so it depends how you define who deserves to be in the top flight (Stan Collymore had a great discussion on his show on Talksport on this very subject about 18months ago, it was interesting to hear how people defined 'big clubs'). Although I would definitely love to see Ian Holloway back in the top flight , even just for quotes such as "i'm so unlucky that if I fell in a barrell of boobs i'd come out sucking my thumb"LOL

Another thing, it seems West Ham have a sense of irony, given that they're managed by Sam 'hit a 70-yard pass to a big front man' Allardyce and ran out to 'Let Me Entertain You'

I mean the current Villa side. They are abysmal to watch.

When Bolton score, the PA playes "I Just Can't Get Enough". That's why you're in the relegation zone, lads! Anyway, Bolton'll stay up - they've got Stoke.

Blackburn and there fans got everything that they deserved this season. How they expected the team to play well while they were protesting about the owners and the manager week in week out was always going to have a negative effect on the team.
When it comes to relegation maybe it should be four up and four down just to spice things up a bit.
