Ultimate F1 Conspiracies

Pole Sitter
a thread for the ridiculous or completely believable conspiracy theories

So I'll start the ball rolling with recent news.
Former Virgin Racing driver Lucas di Grassi is testing Pirelli tyres for the 2012 season in Barcelona. When asked on Twitter how the tyres differed to those used in Formula 1 this season, the Brazilian responded: "Can't tell you, sorry."

You know what this means, virgin have a spy at pirelli and are gaining valuble tyre data for 2012 and as such will gain a massive headstart and dominate like brawn did. Virgin for WCC!!!!

That's not a conspiracy theory, it's an opinion. More of a conspiracy theory would be the reason behind posting it.....:p

8-)

Here's one:

Brigdestone and Ferrari and the FIA conspired to destabalize the Michelin title contenders (McLaren-Mercedes/Raikkonen; Williams-BMW/Montoya) because they (Kimi and Juan Pablo)were getting too close to Schumacher in the 2003 championship.

Bridgestone decided to wait 30-odd races before protesting the Michelins (which had been here-to-fore perfectly legal)...and it came at a crucial point of the WDC (around Monza).

Michelin was forced to change their spec and Schumacher stumbled to the title when he finished 8th at the finale' at Suzuka, needing his contractual Number 2 - Barrichello - to beat Kimi in the race.

...less of a conspiracy theory than a stone-cold fact, Ray! :disappointed: I still remember how uncomfortable Ross Brawn looked when he tried to justify the Bridgestone protest in the teeth of Patrick Head's scorn...

I agree.

But Schuey lovers don't think of it as stone cold fact...they think it's just a conspiracy on the part of people how don't think Shumi is the greatest driver everrrrr in the history of the Universe or the Galaxy or Whateverrrrr...

:D

No, what really happened is that an Indigenous Canadian Witch Doktor took Jenson for the victory at 15-1 and then did a rain dance and hexed the paintings of Vettel, Webber, Hamilton, Alonso and Schumacher in the exhibit at the Queen Elizabeth hotel in Montreal.

Anyway,

Heres another:

After Senna was killed, there were no world champions on the grid and there had never been a German world champion. Germany - a rich country - was desperate for an F1 World Champion and the FIA and Bernie saw lots of money to be made from having a German World Champion.

Hence, when the FIA found Option 13 and Launch and Traction Control on the Benetton B194, they looked the other way...and they did so again when Schumacher chopped Hill after binning his car into the wall at Adelaide.

Voila! The first ever German WDC!

:)

Which is all well and good if you ignore the fact that if thats what the FIA wanted they wouldn't have disqualified Schumi from one race, banned him for another 2 and nearly cost him the championship because of this. Doesn't really fit with conspiracy theory does it? Plus if Bernie was going to plan a conspiracy to make someone from a nation with a lot of cash to invest world champion in F1 I think Germany would have been quite low on his list. Right at the top would have the U.S - especially as F1 was in a battle with Indy Cars for pinnicaple of the sport badge at the time.

Nice try thought Ray

Why not come up with some that don't involve Schumacher. Take some time out from your obsession with him. Just comes across that your secretly in love with him to be honest.

Well, they did that for TV ratings because Schuey was running away with it and that was bad for TV.

That way they killed 2 birds with 1 stone!

That way they got max tv ratings to the very last race ... AND ... they got a German WDC!

Voila!

How about one involving Alonso? :D

Aha ha!

:D

Here's one (not involving Schumacher):

Alonso didn't like it when Lewis and Anthony Hamilton went to the stewards about the Hungary Q3 blocking incident which got him a 5 spot Grid Penalty from Pole.

So, when Ron Dennis refused to subjugate Hamilton, Alonso told him he'd hand incriminating 'Spy-Gate' emails over to the FIA, effectively blackmailing Dennis.

The emails came to light and McLaren were fined $100 Million.

So, the conspiracy is:

Alonso knew his future lay outside McLaren (which it was) so he wanted to maximize the damage to McLaren so they would be less of a threat to him at his next team. (It nearly worked because it nearly put McLaren on the brink with the team realizing it's long term sponsorship was at risk if they didn't put the issue behind them by the end of 2007).
