Title done and dusted: Fact or Fiction?

It's not over until the fat lady sings.

But seriously if someone doesn't stop Vettel's winning streak soon it'll be over before we go into the final race of the season. I think if he continues to keep his head and his rivals around him continue to lose theirs, it's his championship to lose.

Couldn't agree more Hammy. These next two races at Montreal & Valencia
are crucial for Alonso and Hamilton if we are to see a real race for the championship (sorry Jenson & Webber, I don't think you're in contention). We know how strong Lewis is around Montreal and both of these circuits shouldn't allow the Red Bull to play to its main strengths, so theoretically it should be close again.

It only takes another upgrade closing the gap, mechanical failures or accidents to turn it on its head, but I fear the Vettel / Red Bull combination are just too strong this season.

What will be interesting is whether all the teams running the EBD continue to develop them until they are outlawed or concentrate on improving the car post EBD. S'pose we will find out who's done best in this "brave new World" come Silverstone.

It's certainly looking that way at present. Possible youngest back to back champion on his way if they can't be halted, and right now.
That said I've got my bet placed firmly on Vettel to do it again this year, then get well and truly sloshed and drown my sorrows with the winnings. I hate that clever dumb balance restored thing, but if my driver(s) of choice ain't going to make it, I'm damn sure I'm getting something back in return...

Being as we're only just a over a quarter of the way through the season I'm not going to say its over - especially as Vettel has only won the last 2 GP by the skin of his teeth. Lets all remember Alonso's charge back from nowhere last season.

I actually think Fernando's comments is the ultimate in sandbagging. If you say you don't expect to put up a challenge and don't you can say I told you so. If you say its impossible and do it then everyone says how amazing you are.

I've heard people keep saying that this is 2009 but that very untrue. Button took all his early wins in a car that was superior than the rest of the field(he still had to win though so credit where credits due) but its become very clear from China onwards that the Mclaren and even Ferrari are capable of beating the Red Bulls in race pace and especially in the last couple of races Vettel has really had to fight hard to get those wins. Credit where credit is due - Seb has earned this massive lead in the championship - how many errors have we seen him make this season? As for not 'fighting in the pack' - why do you need to if you're outfront? And the one time Red Bull did drop him into traffic in Spain it took him half a lap and 2 overtakes to find clear air again.

Personally I see only Hamilton as being able to beat Vettel. And that won't happen unless McLaren actually become able to beat RBR on Saturday, and while a lot of people think this may happen with the EBD being removed I think it will hurt all the top teams a lot, maybe RBR slightly more so. Vettel will also have to have at least one retirement because as it is 58 points is almost impossible to close with a car that is 2nd fastest.

Most people think Vettel has taken it to another level this year, and Webber dropped one. But I think it's the same as last year except this time reliability is not taking a dump on Vettel and lady luck happens to be shining on Red Bull. Either way the title will be over if McLaren don't capitalise in Montreal, a track that suits them and where the RB7 is weakest.

I have seen the article by Alonso that says that Ferrari/Alonso are looking at Silverstone as the defining point of the season and whether they can realistically draw in RedBull, silently pessimistically optimistic he seems to be on the issue. I think Ferrari's efforts are placed in Downforce, if they get that competitive then the can draw into it, but the WDC is unrealistic.
