Current Robert Kubica

He's fast, Polish and a bloody brilliant racer. To me Kubica is a special talent and has been very unlucky to not find himself in a top team yet.

The thing i like about Kubica is that he's a trier and never gives in say if he was third and had a sniff of second he'd go and chase the second place man down. He's a much toned down version of Lewis Hamilton IMHO he's great at overtaking (Austrailla 2009) exception and if he was in a better car i think he'd a won more races than the current 1 he stands at.

Kubica made his F1 debut at the Hungrian GP in 2006 replacing the injuried Jacque Villeneuve for BMW Sauber. He'd outqualified teammate Nick Heidfeld at the time and finished the race in 7th place only to be DSQ for been under weight. Since Kubica's first and only Pole Position came at the 2008 Bahrain GP, that same season he'd broke his winning duck and won his current and only race in Canada. Kubica has stood on the podium 12 times and in his 76 race he's scored a total of 273 points.

Sad news broke eariler in the year (2011) that Kubica had been involved in a Rally competition and crashed, his life was said to be in the balance, but he's slowly recovering from nasty injuries he substaned in the accident. It remains to be seen whether Kubica will return to motor-racing. But for me Kubica is a talented driver and if we do see him back on the grid i'd be over the moon.

Whether you like him or not Kubica is a cool guy and one that i'd like to see become Champion if he return's to the sport.

How do you rate Kubica?

Kubica is out of hospital.
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/97044 Robert Kubica has returned to his home in Monaco to continue rehabilitation, following the latest operation required after a fall that injured his leg last week.
Despite the injury setback, it is believed that the leg fracture will not have an impact on Kubica's final recovery time - because that is still limited by the nerve regrowth of his right arm and hand which will still take several months.

the guy is race rusty and its obvious that if you stop doing F1 you lose sharpness

I don't think we will see the 2008 Kubica for a while if he ever makes it back into F1

More news on Kubica. What I don't buy is that he is driving a road car and has been jogging. If that is so why is there not a single photograph of him doing this anywhere.Any parapazzi photog knows just how much he could sell a photo for if he managed to snap one.

This week, reports in Italy have emerged that he is planning to get back behind the wheel of an F1 car - almost certainly a Ferrari - in June. The problem is, that is more a hope than a plan, as no one knows whether the Pole will be fit to drive by then.
Kubica is doing four or five hours' worth of physical training a day, despite still recovering from a broken leg sustained earlier this month in an incident that re-opened one of the fractures he sustained in his rally crash.
But the leg is not a major problem - the 27-year-old is not in plaster, there is only a light support around the limb, and he can drive a road car despite it. Before the re-break, he had already started doing some jogging, and the expectation is that the injury will no longer trouble him within a week or so.

Well I imagine that Kubica just has a quiet lifestyle so there aren't many opportunities to take photos of him, plus while he may be a talented driver he's not really the most marketed driver so I doubt current photos of him would sell for much so photographers probably aren't bothering to try to get pictures of him. You only really see pictures of F1 drivers in the press when they're at a grand Prix, doing PR or at a party, none of which Kubica seems to be doing so I don't we can really read anything into the fact that there aren't photos of him.

I don't think he'll come back to F1 if he isn't in a fit state to start next season, but I also don't think there's anything in that article that suggests that a return to full/near full fitness is out of the question. Leading a 'normal' life is one step on the way to living a 'superhuman' life I guess!

Wonder if Kubica could take up some sort of Managerial role up and help bring young Polish drivers through the system. Would be a shame to see him drop out of the Formula One fold altogether.

For Kubica not to return to F1 would be a great shame, as I was pretty sure he would have been capable of winning a WDC one day given the right car! I don't think he should be ruled out at the moment, as there were some reports about some kind of Ferrari offer for the post Massa time (which hopefully comes soon), and we should not forget that he has already recovered several times from massive crashes and injuries; just hope this one wasn't one too much...and apart from that, I always thought he was a pretty cool guy, reminded me of Kimi:)

Notice how his right hand is missing from all pictures.

yep. bit of crafty picture taking. To be honest I don't know if thats a rally car or just a car because I'm betting from what we've read in the reports that he probably hasn't been doing normal road driving for long.

Weak source, but a friend told me, in the pub last night, that he had read something from Algesuari stating that Kubica is unable to hold a glass of water.

Please don't shoot the messenger boy.

If Kubica is ever able to start driving single seaters at some point again this year, I think he should go for the Pirelli test driver role as it would be the best way of marketing himself in my opinion for a 2013 race seat. If he has a test with a specific team such as Ferrari, I think he'd be limiting his options plus he'd have to get used to a new car and new tyres so I doubt he'd be able to show if he's still as good as he was before the crash. If he joined Pirelli, they're using the Renault 2010 car which he'd already be familiar with, being surrounded by the Pirelli engineers would be the perfect opportunity to learn about the new tyres and every team sends a representative to the Pirelli tyre tests so they'd all be able judge if he's recovered and how good he may be.

I read that Alguesuari quote as well, but I've also read that Kubica driving manual cars, so I have no idea what to believe.
Not sure that means too much: you can still drive with power steering, plus using the palm of you hand for changing gears, without the ability to have an effective grip. Sad as it is to say, I think the injury is too significant and he's missed his window. Its not as if there aren't other drivers always fighting for a slot.

True, though it does mean his arms and hands are functional to at least a reasonable degree. I just hope he keeps on recovering.

He is apparently driving rally cars and karts: http://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/after-rally-test-kubica-drives-kart/
