Head To Head Nico Rosberg vs Lewis Hamilton

Apologies to Harry for my curt responses to his post and thanks to FB for making me aware that he is a new member. So for Harry's benefit a little info' to explain my knee-jerk reaction.

The conversations and debate about the team orders at Malaysia was splattered around in a number if threads so, in case Harry hasn't come across it yet, the Malaysia GP discussion is archived here http://cliptheapex.com/threads/2013...actice-qualifying-race-discussion.6054/page-9 (link takes one to page 9 where peep's began to talk about the race itself).

As the subject involved variously Nico, Lewis, Mark and Seb ' there are posts in all their dedicated Drivers threads (http://cliptheapex.com/forums/drivers/ ) as well as in the Teams threads.

I notice that neither comments lifted from the Autosport and Telegraph articles referred to in recent posts are direct quotes from Lewis Hamilton. teabagyokel refers to Lewis's comments in the driver's interviews and press conference. The full verbatim record of that can be found here:

BBC site has some stuff http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/21917717

There's stuff all oiver the place, methinks I've spent enough time on this already.

Welcome to CTA Harry

"Hamilton said after the race that he had queried with Brawn as to whether he had done the right thing in not letting Rosberg through to see what he could do."

I'm probably opening a can of worms here, but I presume Hamilton knew the situation early on, if he wanted to do the 'right' thing, then why did he continue to re-pass Rosberg?

Thread to explode.

@slyboogie because at that point in the race he'd been told to not hold bak but to push? He wasn't in fuel saving mode then? Hold station was only from the last pitstop onwards? Lewis' intense fuel save came later? Just suggestions :dunno:

RickD probably best not to continue that discussion in this thread but, I'm happy to discuss it elsewhere.

You've missed April Fool's day Sly. At least you've recognized the lunacy of your post with your parting comments. :D

We do, but we do not invade every thread and turn it into a Hamilton discussion regardless of the subject. ;)

We also do not feel the need to defend any mention of our favourite drivers and dive down the throats of others because they may not support our drivers.

Is the irony completely lost on you Rick?

We do, but we do not invade...

A sentence which begins in this way only reinforces the tribalist mentality that causes such polarisation. I find it better to speak for oneself than for a collective. There does not need to be a line drawn in the sand. Perhaps we can all walk amongst one another rather than hurl bricks across an imaginary fence. It may be the case that you are in a minority in your views, or at least that you feel such, but it is not through any discrimination.

Rosberg was around 3-4 tenths quicker than Hamilton in the middle sector each lap. They were pretty even in the other sectors. Is there any information as to why that was the case?

I saw The Telegraph's report. posted in 214 1. it doesn't say what ExtrememNinja claimed happened. 2. ExtremeNinja himself dismissed the article as garbage earlier on.
It says; “I said to Ross at the end that I wanted to let him past. But he said: ‘Absolutely not. When I tell you what I want you to do you have to stick by it.’ So I’m glad I did, and that I didn’t get in trouble with Ross."
That line they quoted in isolation does not make it clear exactly when Lewis said he wanted to let him past. But I take that as being at the end of the race. I don't really know what other end there is. But the main reason I take it as being the end of the race is corroboration from other news articles such as the AutoSport news link I posted in #225.

None of the other links to FIA post race press conferences, or BBC Sport etc put up here say Hamilton radioed the team and asked to let Nico past either. They don't even suggest anything like that.

I think if someone is going to make a wild claim about what a driver said on team radio in a thread, he should substantiate it in that thread, rather than acting all smug as if they're stupid for not being able to find it, or expect them to go trawling through various other huge threads all over the place to try and find a hint of something that sort of maybe suggests he might have said something kinda like that at some time either before, during or after the race.
