Traditionally Mercedes supposedly tend to allow equal status but with their involvement linked to potential marketing

So you would think signing Hamilton is linked to that just like signing Schumacher was

I don't think anyone is insulting your intelligence, just pointing out that it's equal status at Mercedes, no evidence to suggest otherwise.

RasputinLives much of what you said makes sense. I'm delighted Lewis has a team that is 100% behind him, but I think they're 100% behind their drivers, and I do think its important that its fair.

You'd expect Nico to be close to Lewis initially due to his years in the team so it will be interesting to see when Hamilton is fully settled how much of a performance gap there will be

After 1 race IMO, that would be pretty hard determination to make.

Let's not forget that Lewis would have been 6 seconds further up the road than Nico if not for his silly pitstop blunder. Perhaps it was this that put Nico on Lewis' tail and perhaps they started on the same fuel. That six seconds might have been gained through burning more fuel earlier in the race on a juicier engine map.

So perhaps, had Lewis not blundered and lost those six second, the whole thing might have been a non-issue. Still, Lewis' mistake but none of us know the fuel levels each driver started with. All we know is that Lewis had less at the later stages of the race.

Only a theory but it gives us something other than the fuel loads to look at and, in Nico's favour, perhaps Lewis was saved from his own blunder in the pitbox rather than the teams blunder with fuel calculations.

Lewis had been asked to go all out chasing the Red Bulls and not to worry about tyres. That message came from the team. If they tell him that they have to take some responsibility for the fuel it uses up.......and they did.

so it looks like lewis had less fuel onboard after all.he was fuel saving from lap 25.
further more i have to say,nico had 2 great opportunitys to get that 3rd place,with those 2 overtakes.unfortunatly for him he couldnt make them stick,eventhough he was faster at the time.maybe brawn was worried,if they keep on battling each other for 3rd place they might crash into eachother.
