Both Sauber and Toro Rosso seem to be appearing regularly at the sharp end of the timesheets this week. Glory runs? Are the others sandbagging to a degree? Theories please?!

It really is impossible to tell right now where the teams are at, the various Pireli compounds have such a large gap in there performance and add to that an empty-full tank of fuel... it really is a mystery to me. But I love mysteries and attempting to unravel them.

The one thing we have in our favour is that the teams actually want to know where they stand aswell! So at some point they will give the game away. ;)

I think that until we see some cars doing long runs and seeing their times will be the best indications.
Simultated qualifying runs at the moment would shoot you to the top of times but would be meaningless.

Teabagyokel waved the black flag to signify the end of the session, he should of waved the red but someone had set fire to it and stuck it in the media centre. It was a revenge attack for all the misinformation they've been spouting on Twitter.
No, I waved it to dsq cider_and_toast from sitting on your lap!

Yesterday we actually saw the red bulls and ferrari doing long runs and staying very consistent without much drop off, if my memory does not mistake me. Even if Schuey did top the time sheets, the times the bull and f150 were producing consistently on the long runs was draw dropping (at least at this stage). Unfortunately McLaren have not done anything similar yet so we can't compare!

Then again, McLaren are a week behind (through their own volition). I suppose it doesn't matter if you're running long at this stage, but that you do in mid-March in the desert.

True, maybe we will see McL do a bit more running, but last year they hardly did much testing in comparison to the other teams. Surely, though, they must get out and do a few long runs before Bahrain just to see how they perform...

I agree Chasz.Schumacher did top times on a ten lapper if memory serves and he was on supersoft and his times dropped dramatically.
Ferrari and Red Bull have looked consistently fast on long runs which suggests they were on mediums at least.
Sauber are looking consistently fast.Lotus Renault are also looking very consistent.I expect Heidfield to get faster as he gets to grips with the car.

Ye, I'm impressed with Heidfield's time. He's already half a second quicker than Petrov yesterday, although of course we have no idea what testing regimes they are on, but then again I suppose he has something to prove!
