WTF is CaT doing on your lap? I mean, I know he's navy and months on board a ship can do strange things to you, but really!

So what can we conclude from today:

Mercedes are getting their act together, the car isn't that slow after all.

The Ferrari is running very smoothly and not eating up its tires.

Red Bull are doing some seriously consistent if not particularly quick laps. Their tyre degridation is pretty much under total control over short runs, Mark didn't do any long runs today, unless, that is they were interrupted by Red Flags?

The McLaren looks to be ok, and the team are apparently taking their time getting to know it inside and out. ;)

mmm.... It looks like the teams are getting the hang of keeping these pirellis in shape - not any massive drop off going on.

Anyone know about the situation on the marbles. I heard these new tyres are creating a lot of marbles... which could be bad for racing :/

Pirelli still have a bit of time to improve the compounds, so they wear differently, and also it seems Merc have found pace at last, or was that a fast run to stop the sponsors worrying?

I'm impressed by Glock's time - less than 2 secs off the ultimate pace. Even if it was a low fuel/new tyre run it looks like Virgin might possibly be in touch with the midfield this year.

ye jonny i noticed that too - don't know if it's a sign they're going to trounce lotus or not but encouraging for them even if there is plently of 'sandbagging' taking place
