Jenson Button

Arguably the best ever driver in mixed conditions, all his wins at Mclaren have come in those conditions. His last race win in the dry came at the 2009 Turkish GP.

Button is known for his smooth driving style and is normally seen in must races doing one less stop than his rivals for tyres.

Buttons also know to be a bit of a practical joker and will take part in anything fun.

Since his debut in 2000 Button has won the majority of hearts in this country. But what is your favourite JB win?

Mine has to be Hungaroring 2006, in argubly a midfield team and he won the race in those mixed conditions to take his first win. I can remember James Allen been in tears almost and that was the first race Anthony Davidson ever commentated on.

It's a matter of making the best of what is allowed. They all have the same tyres, some are better at using them than others. The evidence is that Button is one of the best drivers in changeable conditions under the current regulations.

Of course he is one of the best, he has one of the best cars and lots of experience, he is also a good competent driver

However he is not THE best in these conditions which is what we have spent countless pages stating, he is not better than his teammate who has the same car, in these conditions

And there is no proof that he would have murdered Prost in these conditions as was suggested pages ago

There is no special skill required in making correct gambles half the time, all drivers have driving skills, non of them have mythical and magical abilities in the 2 laps between dry and wet

The track or parts of it is either dry or wet. The best drivers are fast in both conditions. There is no mystical twilight zone where Button would be 10x WC if only we had certain conditions

The views expressed in the Jenson Button changeable conditions debate are entrenched and unchanging, and have been going on for a hell of a long time. So we have come to the end of that particular road.

For this reason, all posts relating to changable conditions or the of wet weather statistics will be deleted.

Jenson would obviously want an increase in his salary having impressed so far. Lewis has a contract and so McLaren would be in a cash shortfall if they keep Jenson, sounds right

Have Ferrari genuinely committed to Massa, being that they have closed the second spot book for good. I think he can potentially end up with Ferrari, but in all honesty I think a) McLaren will pull out all the stops to resign long term, and b) Why would Button take a step back into a Ferrari.

I am actually quite surprised that this has not been settled and is water under the bridge. Mclaren have a good driving line up, two very different drivers that compliment each other well, the competition is high, I would have thought that this is a no-brainer. Essentially it is whether McLaren can give the gentlemen racing machines capable of slaying the Bull.

Hmmm - that its a spanner in the works but I agree it could be Mclaren posturing. I hope Jenson does re-sign for Mclaren but just from his own perspective if Lewis does get paid a lot more than him then he'll prob feel a little hard done to as currently he's 3 points in front of him with the same amount of wins. Must feel he deserves his wage to be a bit closer to him if not level. Maybe Mclaren realise this and are playing the whole 'we can't afford it' card.

They have the trump card in that Jenson has nowhere to go - unless of course Ross Brawn's recent 'I wish he was driving for me' comment should be taken into account. Jenson goes to Merc and Rosberg the other way? He's certainly proven himself at Mclaren so maybe Merc will be willing to pay the wage they weren't willing to before he went.

I could see the logic for Jenson. He would be number 1(effectivly) at one of the top 4 teams and you have to think that Merc are eventually going to build a race winning car. Could shape it into his own team.

I'd rather him sign again for Mclaren though and in the long run I think thats the best option. Espeically as I see Lewis going to Red Bull soon.

As an aside my Brother was watching the GP in Riga at the weekend and all of his Latvian hosts and TV commentators alike refer to the driver in question as "Jensons Buttons"

Jenson may have similar points than Lewis but he's not fast enough in Qually. Jenson should just accept what's being offered because Lewis was signed pre-recession.

Anyone who was signed pre-recession was going to get a better package than post-recession. We're on the edge of another recession. Especially in Europe.

I'm sure Kimi would sign for McLaren now that they have a winning car again and he isn't constrained by a huge bag of Ferrari money. (That's if Kimi's interested.)

I'm willing to bet Kimi would be faster than Jenson and make less errors than Lewis.

Kimi even before missing a couple of years was making mistakes like crashing into the back of Sutil, thats why he got sacked by Ferrari, he had become less effective than even Massa, yes lets bet Kimi would come back and sail off holding hands with Seb into the world of perfection

German is practically in recession, the projected quarterly figure was a couple of percent and the actual numbers came in barely positive, that in itself is a large cause for major concern especially when you consider the ongoing probabilty of sovereign bailouts
