Istanbul Park to disappear from the calendar next year

It's time for someone to take over that has a heart for F1, rather than someone that only thinks about the money he can earn.

Sadly, I doubt that will ever happen.
It is the same in all sport; eventually everyone who gets to the top prefers to consider the bottom line!

Aren't they both? Neither can afford to stage the race permanently and the local government who won the Nurburgring don't want to pay any more - we had a thread about it a while ago.

It's simple economics, if there's a track which will pay FOM what they want then the races will move. It's not an emotional decision on Bernie's part, he still has countries lining up to stage races and if he can make more somewhere else then off "we" go.

Bernie reminds of one of those awful people (sorry, women) who change their kitchen and living room suite every few years :givemestrength:

It is neither economical (and F1 is now supposed to be reducing expenditure and waste) nor is it very seemly - neither mean you can cook or sit elegantly - so all you are doing is filling the planet with perfectly good detritus

Very well put, though if F1 don't want to go to Istanbul any more, it doesn't mean that other racing series won't be interested. I think the Le Mans Series has raced there in the past and hope that can continue. It's not as if hosting F1 is generating revenues for these circuits - quite the reverse in most cases.
