When Road and Track magazine interviewed Brawn and asked him why they chose to follow Michael, he said it was because they knew that, by doing so, they would have the best driver in the world driving their car. He said they were offered more money to go elsewhere but chose Ferrari because, with Michael, all they had to do was give him a car capable of winning and he would carry it through. I don't disagree, but the great drivers are also measured by what they did in the years where they did not win championships and did not have the best cars.

But then why is Vettel never measured by, aside from Monza, Japan 2007, China 2007, Monaco 2008 and Canada 2008? For some reason it always conveniently 'doesn't count'.

If you believe the STR2 was a competitive midfield car, you might want to look back some tapes .
And if you believe the STR3 that Vettel drove from p19 to p5 in Monaco was better than Fernando's F2012 that earned him "super duper perfect amazing driver ever" in Valenca, well... I don't even know what to say of that.
