Absolutely no surprise at all really.
For me this highlights why teams who put the short term financial gain from "rent-a-drive" drivers ahead of paying for a driver with ability will never develop. If you look at the curve Caterham were on with Heikki behind the wheel it was definitely an upward one. For financial reasons they took the decision that their position as the 10th best team (and therefore the FIA funding) was safe regardless of who they had in the car so they let Kovi go and replaced him with two rent a drivers. Cue finishing behind Marussia on count back and the beginning of the end. Enough said really.
