Grand Prix 2025 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix

its the 7th round of the F1 season & its our 1st race back in europe. at the wonderful & historic imola or as it was called, with the very catchy title of 2024 MSC Cruises Gran Premio del Made in Italy e dell'Emilia-Romagna grand prix

Currently, in Italy, 2 major events have captured attention: the F1 race & the papal election. At first glance, one might assume that F1 & the Pope have no connection, but that not true. In 2019, on the 25th anniversary Ayrton Senna's death, Pope Francis was presented with a bronze figure of the legendary driver.

Twenty years ago, we were racing in Imola just days after Pope John Paul was elected. Interestingly, there is a recurring pattern among the teams that won the last five races following the election of a new pope.
1963 - Jim Clark - Lotus
1978 - Mario Andretti - Lotus
1978 - Jaques Laffite - Renault
2005 - Fernando Alonso - Renault
2013 - Kimi Raikkonen - Lotus Renault
does this is mean that Gasly or colapinto will be on winner podiums, as renault power have won the last 3 & enstone team are unbeaten. probably not. but who knows anything is possible when you have god on your side LOL

This weekend marks a regular weekend with no sprints until Spa in July. Lando Norris enters this race under significant pressure; is a must-win or, at the very least, he must outperform his teammate. Although it is still early in the season, the title, currently at a 16 point gap, is beginning to slip from his grasp, while Piastri appears comfortable. Additionally, this could be a chastening homecoming for Ferrari. Whatever updates they introduced to their car over the winter have proven disastrous. in just a few races, they have gone being within reach of a Constructors' title struggling to finish in the top ten. When their 2 star drivers are battling for 7th place, the fault does not lie with the drivers.

from what is clear

Single lap

Mclaren are the fastest car
Red Bull 2nd fastest
Mercedes
Williams
RB
Ferrari

Race pace
Mclaren
Red Bull pending which circuits it is as long as it is not a high tyre wearing track
Ferrari/Mercedes - the former good on medium tyres and lighter car whilst the latter is better with a heavier car and harder tyres
Williams - not maximising the performance

Aston Martin - they still have zero points for Alonso but they might have benefitted from fresh tyres or being able to get heat into the tyres which means they destroy them very quickly as welll

The two SC's changed the race outcome ...onto the one we dread the most Monaco

Piastri left a gap wider than the Atlantic Ocean for Verstappen to go for :givemestrength:All he had to was block him off to the rundown to the chicane as he was more than a car length ahead

Even Russell was fuming

Not sure what Oscar was thinking but braking early as he said is bonkers given he could taken the middle of the road

Given the other way round no doubt Verstappen and Red Bull would have complained that it was over aggressive

I am glad we don;t return to Imola because the race was processional and was only exciting due to the safety car throwing the strategies out

i really enjoyed that race, the best race of the season so far for me, helped that some teams hedged their bets on 1 stop & 2 stops. so there was always something happening. as much as ive given pirelli alot of grief. but theyve been trying thing aiming for 2 stops & it made the race

really enjoyed Hamilton on brilliant drive from 12th - 4th. stayed patient, looked after the tyres, when the moment came he capitalised. rescued what looked like a very tough afternoon this morning

you have to have give credit to Verstappen, that was a brilliant move on piastri to take the lead & then got the tyres to last, outsmarted McLaren got the tyres to last, McLaren assumed that they would be too slow on a 1 stopper & yes Verstappen is lucky, but Norris won Miami in the circumstances by fortunate safety car

Mclaren fumbled again giving JV another time to give them a rocket on Sky calling them weak

Once again they've allowed a potential victory slip away

Verstappen's move was the sort of the gap that Hamilton use to sense and go for .

Ferrari - the safety car helped them out but there is no denying they would have finished 40 seconds behind again if it did not happen. They really need to understand why it cant go fast with heavy fuel no grip and light fuel no grip as by the time they are fast the race is over

Mercedes - they have the reverse issue of Ferrari and maybe Kimi's inexperience as well as not being fully up to F1 fit is telling . Good luck with dealing with Monaco next !

Williams - Albon and Sainz unlucky again but Alex is proving to be a top driver now and surely the podium is coming

Aston Martin - they've found the speed but it felt like they go through the tyres too quickly plus a strange decision not to pit cost them dearly on VSC

Racing Bulls - Hadjar is really impressing outshowing Lawson and beat a battered Tsunoda

Alpine - well after the hype about Colapinto actually they forgot about the on track this weekend

Haas - not a great showing

Sauber - actually got higher to the points

Yeah, that was my fault. Normally I wait a while to see what everyone else thinks but on this occasion I had the race on the background and was only half paying attention to it so I probably got my yawn emoji in a little bit early.

Still, the Albon and Ferrari battle was quite fun.

I think the first VSC ruined the race given Verstappen had a huge lead the second full safety car was where there was some excitement at least bar Mclaren bungling again

However the track is still hard to pass

just seen this stat which not great for ferrari in qualifying. they somehow maybe this years car 6 - 7 tenths slower with the same driver on the same track
Leclerc 1:14.9 2024
Leclerc 1:15.6 2025
