its the 7th round of the F1 season & its our 1st race back in europe. at the wonderful & historic imola or as it was called, with the very catchy title of 2024 MSC Cruises Gran Premio del Made in Italy e dell'Emilia-Romagna grand prix
Currently, in Italy, 2 major events have captured attention: the F1 race & the papal election. At first glance, one might assume that F1 & the Pope have no connection, but that not true. In 2019, on the 25th anniversary Ayrton Senna's death, Pope Francis was presented with a bronze figure of the legendary driver.
Twenty years ago, we were racing in Imola just days after Pope John Paul was elected. Interestingly, there is a recurring pattern among the teams that won the last five races following the election of a new pope.
1963 - Jim Clark - Lotus
1978 - Mario Andretti - Lotus
1978 - Jaques Laffite - Renault
2005 - Fernando Alonso - Renault
2013 - Kimi Raikkonen - Lotus Renault
does this is mean that Gasly or colapinto will be on winner podiums, as renault power have won the last 3 & enstone team are unbeaten. probably not. but who knows anything is possible when you have god on your side
This weekend marks a regular weekend with no sprints until Spa in July. Lando Norris enters this race under significant pressure; is a must-win or, at the very least, he must outperform his teammate. Although it is still early in the season, the title, currently at a 16 point gap, is beginning to slip from his grasp, while Piastri appears comfortable. Additionally, this could be a chastening homecoming for Ferrari. Whatever updates they introduced to their car over the winter have proven disastrous. in just a few races, they have gone being within reach of a Constructors' title struggling to finish in the top ten. When their 2 star drivers are battling for 7th place, the fault does not lie with the drivers.
