So I hope I'm reading through the lines of this message buried with other communications from F1, in that they are still looking at solutions for 2018 but they couldn't be for shamed on bolting the Halo monstrosity on to the 2017 new F1 sexy models as it would make F1 look even more a joke than it already is.

Question, have they made F1 so restrictive today, that engineers have forgot how to be innovative in designing a solution?

According to Palmer there was no vote taken at the driver's meeting so maybe Vettel decided that since all statistics are lies he would do it his way.

At least drivers are restricted exiting the car unlike the Halo.

It would stop a Massa type forgein object impact. Not sure it would do anything for a stray tyre or tractor.

Visibilty in rain would be interesting.

I always thought F1 was an open cockpit class, or am I missing something. Motor racing is dangerous and although improved safety is commendable do we have to sterilise it completely.

Open wheel is the important part. Enclosed cockpits would have no effect on racing and are fine by me. But it needs to work and look good.
