Pre-Season Barcelona Test - 8th to 12th March

Jenson Button and Mclaren also appear to have turned a corner...
Though it would appear they are heading in the opposite direction to Mercedes. Jens is in 10th with just 22 laps on the car today. :(

Sutton Images said:
"McLaren running aero paint everywhere today and now on the air intake into the engine or somewhere else! But they are still not happy with something on the car."

Rubens Barrichello is half way through a race simulation!

I think that he is running without KERS today.Williams are having problems with the KERS control unit.

That tsunami is mind blowing! The whole of the Pacific rim is on alert. :o

It looks dreadful, doesn't it? I thought this sentence in the BBC news article was particularly scary:
"The Red Cross in Geneva warned that the tsunami waves could be higher than some Pacific islands, Reuters news agency said."

Heidfeld third quickest!

If only Renault had Kubica available, eh?

Frightening sight. Makes you feel very small and insignificant against the power of nature.

Point taken snowy, and I admit that there are not too many better teams; but there was, for example, a lot of 'Kubica to Ferrari' talk that in the end came to nothing. He always seems to be the driver of whom people say, "If only he was in a more competitive car he'd show what he can do". But you can't have it both ways.
And there are no prizes for qualifying. What counts is bringing the car home in points-scoring places in races, over a whole season; and Nick did that better than Robert for two out of three seasons.

Don't get me wrong; I rate Kubica very highly. But I rate Heidfeld highly too, and I get frustrated that Robert is perceived as so much better when their race records don't bear that out.

That is the real test.

However if your car isn't at the very front and you are scrapping for minor points your race performance relative to your teammate over the whole season can be seriously distorted. One freak P2 or P3 can vault you over your teammate in an instant.

The energy release was apparently 3000 times more powerful than the largest nuclear device ever tested... 8-900 times as powerful as the quake to hit New Zealand recently, and around 100 times as powerful as hit Haiti

Of course it can.Statistics can be distorted by many factors.
But qualifying and fastest laps don't mean much in themselves. The only result that matters is race position on Sunday afternoon when the chequered flag falls.
