Formula 2 A young British driver wins!

:1st: Congratulations to Oliver Turvey, who won Friday's GP2 Asia feature race in Abu Dhabi. Turvey's win was the first for a British driver in a feature race since Adam Carroll way back in August 2007.

Oliver is currently studying for a Masters in F1 at Cambridge University (never heard of it) and was narrowly beaten to the British Formula Three championship by Jaime Alguersuari in 2008.

Most pleasing for me, the result is a vindication of the work of the Racing Steps Foundation - - whose patrons Graham Sharp and John Surtees have taken it upon themselves to support young talented drivers who lack the funding to progress up the conventional single-seater ladder. Sadly it seems to be harder for young drivers to find willing sponsors in Britain than in other countries, and so the RSF is fulfilling an important role.

Great news for Oliver Turvey.
I've been watching him the last few years in the World Series by Renault and the British F3.

FB, you could try Motors TV or possibly Eurosport?
Once the BTCC season starts again then ITV4 should show that and all the support races.
Eurosport were showing this weekend's races, though it is not necessarily a given that the two remaining rounds will be on there. They seem to set their schedules at about 2 hours' notice.

The main GP2 season was messed about last year because it was initially on Setanta.
Love Eurosport!

What could possibly be better than incoherent scheduling, sports that Sky and ITV have refused and the BBC are showing skeleton coverage of*? All added into consistent ads from African mobile companies, Eastern European tourist boards and the utterly rubbish Eurosport website!

*Quite possibly literally in Winter Olympics!
