It went into the wall forwards at about a 45-degree angle. Footage showing him being taken on a gurney into the ambulance with neck supports, which is probably normal procedure.
It was a big one, hit the wall very hard. Thought he might be seriously injured but as soon as the car came to a stop he was fiddling with his helmet straps.
This Twitter user has made a very good point that the SAFER barrier probably saved Bourdais' life here... The description and shots i've seen reminded me of Piquet's Indy shunt (albeit at a higher speed)...
