2014 driver line up market

It amuses me to see the BBC playing the story as "Paul di Resta ousted by incoming Perez"*, whereas just about everyone else is saying "Force India sign Perez" with a footnote to the effect that di Resta is unlikely to find a refuge berth in F1.

*in fairness, Mr Benson basically disembowels PdR credentials in his sidebar to the main story, to the effect that he didn't do enough to be retained anyway, and yes - that success against Vettel in Formula Euro gets trotted out...again:rolleyes:

Road of Bones

It was more PdR's attitude that is noticeable -

Yes the team screwed him many times over the season with botched pit stops and quali but he had to keep it behind closed doors

--- They say he is actually an easy going guy ... - it seems F1 tenses him up too much

---------------------------
Not sure what people expect of Force India given it does not look a race winner and the nearest it got to the podium was Bahrain

other than that the car just fell backwards especially after the tyre change to the Pirellis which the team took too long to resolve

---------------------

Road of Bones Maldonado was just as bad even more so at Williams .. I guess it is about having the right people backing you - if only Norbert Haug was still around to put a good word for Di Resta or if only he did not fall out with Anthony Hamilton

---------------

There are plenty of drivers who are known to be a bit of moaner in the past but managed to stay in F1 because they got the right people behind them

like Mansell - Peter Warr at Lotus was fed up with his moaning and Ron Dennis did not rate him and thought he was a blockhead but crucially Frank Williams saw something in his tenacity to sign him

like Webber who thought he deserved a better car than what Jaguar gave him and failed at Williams but luckily Flavio Briatore managed to get Red Bull to sign him along with Renault engines

DI Resta hasn't convinced me he is F1 worthy, the team has cocked up a few times, but in the second part of the season i've seen him more off track than on it.

OMFG, Sutil just joined Sauber!!!!!!http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/2013/12/13/sutil-joins-sauber-for-2014/ Di Resta get's owned by Hulkenberg who was a year out, Di Resta has beaten Sutil and that bozo get's a drive for next season.

Man, F1 is really going backwards, rules and drivers wise.

Just 4 seats left.

Redbull - Vettel & Ricciardo
Ferrari - Alonso & Kimi
Mercedes - Hamilton & Rosberg
McLaren - Magnussen & Jenson
Lotus - Maldonado & Grosjean
TorroRosso - Kvyat & Verne
Williams - Massa & Bottas
Caterham - TBC & TBC
Force India - Hulkenberg & Perez
Sauber - Sutil & TBC
Marrusia - Bianchi & TBC

If people say Di Resta is not worthy than what have either Maldonado or Sutil done this season to deserve their seats in F1 - both of whom who finished behind Di Resta in the championship?

It has been the case whoever had the biggest wallet gets to stay in F1

------------------------------------------

Di Resta's career seems to similar to Nick Heidfeld
- Mercedes junior driver , testing with Mclaren , gets into F1 through Mercedes association and then is in contention for Mclaren drive but overlooked and subsequently has not recovered from that rejection

I don't think Di Resta would go to Caterham even if they ask for an experienced driver because his attitude and desire to drive for a top team unless his manager convinces him

Marussia want drivers with sponsors

Sauber - 1 seat - you would think Petrov starts as the favourite since he is Russia's top F1 driver

I would think DiResta is heading over the pond.

Who knows a few years doing well at Indy Car maybe he can come back to F1. Doubt it, but maybe.
