Pre-Season 2018-2019 Winter testing and car launches

this bodes very well & maybe Ross brawn was right when he said F1 could see a 20% improvement in the quality of racing. especially as this (obviously) was said at catalunya so imagine what possible at better circuits. Baku could be a classic. a circuit more boring than Monaco & so bad even F2 are boring around there. a few quotes from him

I followed a car today and you know it really really feels a lot better, than last year

The whole car just feels more consistent and stable behind another car,

But following a car today I felt a big difference. You know, it felt completely different. I could actually follow. I was a lot faster than the guy I was following and I passed him

Magnussen: New aero rules make a “big difference” following cars

sounds much better than this from 2017

Lewis Hamilton warns new F1 rules will make overtaking more difficult

"Sparks always fly when Max Verstappen is around, but he's the only one kicking up flares on the run into Turn 10. Red Bull, as per usual, is absolutely pushing the limits of rake and the titanium panel positioned at the front of the floor plank is rubbing against the ground as a result. "

"Carlos Sainz has stopped in the McLaren...
Just like Lando...uhhhmmmm...sorrry....Chuck Norris yesterday, Sainz has ground to a halt after a fast stint."

"Alonso becomes McLaren Racing ambassador
We saw him at the circuit - and in team kit - yesterday and McLaren have now announced a formal continuation of their relationship with their former F1 driver.

He becomes their 'ambassador' in a 'wide-ranging agreement' which will see him drive at 'selected tests' to both help develop the current MCL34 and next year's MCL35.

And, of course, he is returning to the Indy 500 with McLaren's IndyCar entry in May as he bids to complete the Triple Crown of motorsport.

Alonso: "Becoming a McLaren ambassador is a true honour. It is a special team, and despite the challenges we have endured recently, it remains so. I said before I stopped racing in Formula 1 last year that I see myself with McLaren for a long-time to come, so I am delighted at this new role and the ability to stay closely involved with the team I feel is my spiritual home.

“We have the Indianapolis 500 in May of course, which I am looking forward to immensely, but this is just the beginning of many things we can do together. I am particularly passionate about nurturing young talent, whether that’s with my own team or helping the new generation of Formula 1 drivers at McLaren unlock their true potential. This is important to both the team and myself, so will be an especially rewarding part of my role.”

Ouch
"Red flag AGAIN! It looks like the Ferrari has gone off!
Vettel has crashed at Turn Three.

It looks like Vettel went straight on at Turn Three, and crashed into the barriers. He's out of the car and seems OK, but we may not see that Ferrari again this morning!

Setback for Ferrari and Vettel
We don't know the reason for that crash, but what we do know is that's a second consecutive setback for Ferrari at the start of this test.

Hard to tell how much damage has been done to the front of the car, but the SF90 is at least going to be sidelined for a good chunk, if not all, of the remainder of the morning.

The German had just racked up his 40th lap of the morning, one fewer than morning leader Verstappen."

13:37 After that crash a little while ago, we shouldn't expect to say the Ferrari again for some time. That means Vettel's day's over, and Leclerc may only appear late in the afternoon.

Ferrari says it foresees the car "won’t go out on track for a few hours". Still no firm details about the cause of the off, but we know the left side of the front wing was on the ground and sparking. Balance of probability suggests some kind of front wing failure or problem on the front-left corner of the car.

Ferrari tweeted that Seb's off was a mechanical issue, so not his 'mistake' . Only I know he made a few howlers last year, just making sure no one says he's started again this year :p;)

Why lower yourself to their level?
I usually don't. But if the poster posts constant and intentional insults with no consideration, decency and just general venom whilst continueing with the barrage unabated...time to act. Before he arrived, I turned down the moderator nomination... wish I did'nt

I've seen some of the stuff one particular member posted, it wouldn't be tolerated here and rightly so. Some people are just venomous and nasty, some of the things he said to BradMan were outright disgusting. We all have our limits and he pushed Brad beyond his. I have to admit if he'd continually spoken to me the way he spoke to Brad, I'd have lost it too and told him what to do with himself. And that's from someone who doesn't like confrontation if I can avoid it.

Depends on track characteristics, but on some tracks it will be maybe 5 cars in contention, on others may be additional 3 more, if we read the testing correctly.
