Current Sir Lewis Carl Davidson Hamilton MBE

A place to put all the posts from all the other threads primarily but love him or hate him, and even for the indifferent amongst us this is the place to discuss the marmite that is Lewis Hamilton, to learn a thing or two about his rise, talk about those controversial, genius or mad moments and something that i am bemused by, the recent articles that suggest something quite different to my perception of what's going on. Any experiences of meeting LH?

Brundle had to write a Lewis Hamilton article recently and in my tweets (which were probably ignored) I asked him to talk about LH the driver not LH the personality. It seems that you can't have one without the other.

So as a starter for ten, here is a fairly recent LH article. Posts should not be limited to this link but it can get some discussion going. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/formula_one/13755883.stm

The only banned topic as it is clearly ridiculous involves these four things "Glock" "2008" "Brazil" "conspiracy"

I agree with Keke, I was discouraged by Lewis's performance.
Yes he was good in the last few laps attacking and defending at the same time but it's time he started to think for himself.
Never thought I'd say this but Jenson would not have stayed pootling out in a car losing 3 sec a lap waiting for a call, he'd have just gone into the pits, the seconds lost while the teams gets the tyres would be nothing to the seconds lost each lap staying out.
Also why on earth didn't the team tell Nico to let Lewis past??!! He could've pitted and been out before Nico was at the entry.
Some balls-ups from the team yesterday but some indecisive driving from Lewis too.
If he wants to win another title he needs to think for himself and concentrate on his job not his personal life/image at a race weekend.

Regardless of much moaning Lewis did, he drove the wheels off the car - short of delaminating the boots that is. Whilst Huklkenberg has a long way to go to emulate Senna he held off a fierce challenge from Hamilton who simultaneously had to fend off Alonso. If anyone thinks that was easy or lazy for either of the three drivers then they are watching the wrong sport.

I'm not saying Lewis didn't try. He gave it the usual 10/10ths. But for some reason I was left with an empty feeling about this one. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that I was forced to wallow in silence at 3:30 AM so as not to awake my family. Oh well, very glad Japan is already upon us.

That's what I thought....LH always thinks of the F1 Fans getting VFM....
That is why he has said he wouldn't want to win like Seb .....a distant blur...he wants some action....& he drove that Merc to the limit ...if the team had brought him in for tyres when he asked....he would have had a podium for sure...
And I don't agree that drivers should just come in when they want (as JB has done)..it would cause mayhem in the pits.

Lewis would take the WDC's however they came to believe that he is there just to give the fans a show is complete bollocks....

He is no different from any other driver in that respect, he isn't a superhero or the peoples champion he is just an F1 driver who wants to win races and championships, I do wish people would stop trying to endow him with Superior morals and values, he's just a bloke....

I didn't read F1ang-o 's comment that way Mephistopheles . Having heard what Hamilton actually said with regard to runaway races, he was clearly referring to how boring it is not just for fans but also for him as a driver. He's in it for the challenge of doing battle, head to head, with the best there is. When he lifts the trophy after a proper dust up he knows he will have deserved it and will be rightly proud. WTF is wrong with that?

As far as his fans bigging him up that is what all fans do to their heroes and heroines. Personally, I'm not into that but each to their own. At least they are passionate about something and someone. Best of luck to them.

Ermmm....Vettel has done battle with the best there is and handed then a can of whoopass.

If Lewis needs to fight through from the back and win a Grand Prix by a nose cone to get satisfaction out of winning then I suggest he's played a bit too much playstation and watched the movie 'Driven' far too many times.

Umm,

The last time I looked, the driver had 2-way radio communication with the pit. Couldn't Lewis have said something along the lines of "My tyres are shot. I need to pit NOW!"?

Which was precisely my point FB there is no point in someone saying oh his dominance is bad for F1 and boring for the fans when the person saying it would like to be in his position any day of the week and twice on Sundays, to be bluntly honest it smacks of hypocrisy and jealousy to me.

Not sure he could have been any more blunt than he was in Korea siffert_fan but they still left the poor bugger circulating round.

Which doesn't sound like the tactical genius we all know Ross Brawn to be, very strange that one unless the rumours are true that Ross is leaving the team to work for McLaren and he just doesn't give a shit about Merc...

Sounds like there's a tad hypocrisy on this forum too. How often do we get the comment "balh, blah boring race" when Seb has stormed into the distance & won by a mile.
Now a driver has come out and said what most are thinking & suddenly he's a hypocrite?!
I don't recall Lewis saying he wouldn't clear off into the distance just that he feels it's a more satisfying win if you've battle for it.
I can't speak for him but I'm pretty sure Seb would be more ecstatic at winning a race he'd battled for.
It's not just what you do it's the way that you do it, an emphatic dominance or an exciting battle...both could win a race but which gets the adrenolin going more...

We're in total agreement about Lewis' race in Korea Dizzi , but whether or not he wins another title again soon is more or less out of his hands. If Newey/RBR/Renault nail the 2014 Reg changes, there's little to no hope for anyone else.

Don't forget, next year's Ferrari is being designed by Byrne, whose designs, with Schumacher at the wheel, routinely toweled the Newey cars. What excuse will be given if/when Vettel wins again next year?
