Head To Head Nico Rosberg vs Lewis Hamilton

Well it was only locked to give everyone a chance to move on.
If we don't unlock it the posts will only end up on every other thread.

Well well well!

Brilliant from Nico, Hamilton should have had second but either way Nico is on top

guys if you want to argue like school boys or football yobs stick to 606 please

Because no doubt another who did better out of Hamilton and Button thread will occur post race on BBC's website

Not here please

After the last debate turned into childish insults I won;t discuss F1 on 606 again
-------------

All I see Rosberg is going through the same criticism Button got and now has he had a chance to prove it by being in the same team

I won't start the usual Button rants that he's had to deal with because its past and done in the record books it will say Button was the first man to Hamilton in the same team.

(Even when he did there was still some excuses and calling it out fluke)

Could Rosberg become the second ?

I've said since Malaysia it seems Nico has got really angry and fired up and channelled it to the track..Lewis' admission he is struggling with the car could not come at a bad time but then again it is his first season with the new team so you'd expect Nico to have some continuity advantage initially

It remains to be seen now how Hamilton responds to the fact he probably cannot win the drivers title but is facing an ever increasing competitive teammate that will test their friendship as well.

Remember Nico is fighting for his career as he is out of contract and is somehow the catalyst to the drivers market apart from Vettel this season

- Red Bull and Ferrari might suddenly take a closer look

downforce

I said go to 606 if people want to start resorting to school boys / yobs that is what every thread degenerated to post race

I did say Rosberg is proving his doubters and Hamilton has his first serious test at Mercedes ..even if he was 2nd today Rosberg was better than him all week and Lewis has said he is struggling with the car ( if his name was Jenson Button - I am sure there would be a lot of people saying what a useless slow driver he is and making excuses)

Martin Brundle said on Sky ......at the start of the race...."Lewis had a great chance to take the lead at the start"
IMHO LH was playing a team game today...he left a gap to NR...& too much so for the pit stop....cost him dear....
Should have been a Merc 1-2 but ....lets wait to see what Merc have to say.

The last two and a half races has been a change in fortunes for Hamilton...he was feeling high having got 1 pole, 2 podiums and talking about his new lease of life at Mercedes

The honeymoon period is over now I guess

An emphatic win for Rosberg in qualifying and the race.

If Hamilton had managed to get in front before the first corner it could have been very different.
But he didn't, so it wasn't :D

Hamilton had this to say:
When asked after the Grand Prix if the gap was his or Mercedes’ responsibility, Hamilton responded: "It wasn't the team's fault, it was my mistake. I was told to have a six second gap, perhaps I had more than that. I lost out massively there.
"But congratulations to Nico and the team. They did a great job today. I just need to work harder. I don't put it down to bad luck, I just wasn't good enough this weekend."

Why would he have been told to leave 6 seconds? Surely get in behind Rosberg as quick as possible would've been the order?

I would have thought it would also have been to keep the guys behind Hamilton behind. I dont think that cooling would be an issue, as the cars sit on the grid for a while before getting off, however, the stationary pit stop time would be the critical difference, as going in straight behind Rosberg, he would have lost time through sitting still, at least if he drops back, the guys behind him will be the same distance behind him, regardless, and there would be less stationary time in the pits, so the track time lost to those behind him would be minimised, 6 seconds I guess is the time the team calculated, with an eye on all the other key players at the time.

Yeah, my query is about it being 6 seconds, a car is static for <3 seconds in a pit stop, time was of the essence and it may have possibly cost the 1-2.
