Weather in Hungary

i myself worry more about the race being held on the hungaroring then the weather. cos no matter what the matter, we are most likely not in for a great time. mind you, the macca's could be heading for points here.

Can you not remember 2006? What a great day that was!

oh yes... button win and alonso's nut.

Yeah, I was wondering because I was convinced that was 2007...

Alonso has been trying to pull that trick off again if Piquet disobeys team orders but has been unable to do so since Flav seems to have a "CRASH" button on the pit wall and because Piquet hasn't been seen near Q3 when Q2 is dry!

Well let's all pray for rain because if it stays dry then it's going to be a prelude to Valencia.
Between them they are 2 of the 4 worst tracks for overtaking in the dry :disappointed:

Why doesn't it surprise me that the other two were Catalunya and [colour=#333333:e8clf8b8]Monte Carlo[/colour:e8clf8b8].

Bring Back Montreal! Please! Please! Bring Back Montreal!

7 weeks 'till Spa, though I might miss it because I'm in Belgium. (A different part of Belgium, obviously!)

Wasn't sure whether this warranted a new thread or not but F1-Live is reporting that the fee to host the GP went up from 12 million euros in 2008 to 15.5 million euros this year.
And the Hungarian government only agreed to pay the increased fee 2 weeks ago...

Hungary GP race fee increases - report

If that's true then that's a rise of 29% in 1 year :o

How exactly does this fit in with the FIA's current cost-cutting program and more importantly, how can CVC and Bernie justify this?

How exactly does this fit in with the FIA's current cost-cutting program and more importantly, how can CVC and Bernie justify this?

It's simple Bro, The costs aren't incurred by the FIA, The Teams or Bernie/CVC but by Tracks, Governments and the fans. The cost to host a GP can rise as much as CVC want it too. There will always be those countries willing to host a race and always be those people willing to watch it on TV.

Cost cutting is only relevent if it's the costs of a multi million pound multi national car company. If it's the average F1 punter who pays for a ticket it dosn't matter. Why worry about 30,000 empty seats at a track when you have a global audience of 1 or 2 hundred million to sell your stuff too.

Simple economics.

Yes, I know it's only P1 and times don't mean anything....but McLaren 1st and 3rd?
When was the last time we saw that this season?

Jaime just over 2 10ths behind Seb B.
Not bad for his first outing.

Looking at the number of laps by Jamie Unspellable and Buemi they have done almost as twice as much as everyone else so I don't think ultimate speed was the goal here but testing new parts and getting Jamie used to the car/track.

Without a doubt.

Toro Rosso are running the updates they got from Red Bull this weekend aren't they?
And this is the first time Jaime has ever driven an F1 car competitively on a circuit, having only done some straight line tests before.

Talk about baptism by fire :D

Yeah, In at the deep end.

It won't be until the race that we get a good idea about what we are in for during the rest of the season. Could be a new star or could be a mobile chicane you never can tell.

You must have to have a great deal of confidence in your own ability to go from a few straight line runs into competing in the highest level of motorsport in the world.

I really want to see if the Force India's can move up a notch again. This track should be a bit of a leveller and I think they have a pretty good package now and should be mixing it with the BMWs, Renaults and Toyota's.

Hope last week wasn't a flash in the pan.

Intersting to see that the Williams cars also remain near the top of the time sheets as does Webber.

Again we can't read too much into this because we've seen it all before on a Friday but Mclaren must be pleased with how it's going so far.

As for Jaime Unspellable, again it's early doors but will we be asking ourselves come sunday evening weather it was worth it to give Bourdais his marching orders. I wonder if Renault are taking note after the speculation surrounding PKs future.

It is starting to look pretty good for McLaren - I suppose they've gone very well at the Hungaroring...

2008HamiltonKovalainen

So McLaren have won 3 of the last 4 races at the Hungaroring, and got 3 of the last 4 poles. In 2006 they were on track until Raikkonen hit Liuzzi (although Massa should have won 2008).

Even if we consider Schuonso's time deductions in 2006, Kimi still beat a Ferrari to pole!

exactly. at times i even wonder if an animated race might not attract as many viewers as a real life GP. why do we need people visiting a race?

the macca's seem to be on their usual quick dashes again. anyone any idea what the longest stint was they did? would be surprised if it was more then 3 or 4 laps.

clearly in qualifying mode. but i have the feeling they are seriously low on fuel and will try their usual strategy of racing away in the first stint.

Also a shout out for the Williams team who have been consistantly near the top of the time sheets all weekend.

I think this session is the least reflective of current performance levels of the three sessions so far though. I'm not sure what set ups the teams were working on but Buemi 6th and Button at the back?
