If Vettel had braked on a straight then I could understand it, but he braked on the apex of a corner after speeding up and looking like he was going for it. This is why it was not on and deserving of a reprimand. The green light idea sounds like a good one..

Isn't the green light system essentially what they do over the pond in the IRL? (Sorry, Champcar, CART?, Indycar)...

That is sort of what Indycar does, but they have a flag and double file so it isn't very consistent and often leads to ugly restarts where guys are out of line, half the field is trying to catch up, ect. But, actually using a consistent red to green light system, I feel would help keep them on the pace and stop drivers from "brake-checking" and gaining a five second advantage before anyone else crosses the line.
