Current Robert Kubica

He's fast, Polish and a bloody brilliant racer. To me Kubica is a special talent and has been very unlucky to not find himself in a top team yet.

The thing i like about Kubica is that he's a trier and never gives in say if he was third and had a sniff of second he'd go and chase the second place man down. He's a much toned down version of Lewis Hamilton IMHO he's great at overtaking (Austrailla 2009) exception and if he was in a better car i think he'd a won more races than the current 1 he stands at.

Kubica made his F1 debut at the Hungrian GP in 2006 replacing the injuried Jacque Villeneuve for BMW Sauber. He'd outqualified teammate Nick Heidfeld at the time and finished the race in 7th place only to be DSQ for been under weight. Since Kubica's first and only Pole Position came at the 2008 Bahrain GP, that same season he'd broke his winning duck and won his current and only race in Canada. Kubica has stood on the podium 12 times and in his 76 race he's scored a total of 273 points.

Sad news broke eariler in the year (2011) that Kubica had been involved in a Rally competition and crashed, his life was said to be in the balance, but he's slowly recovering from nasty injuries he substaned in the accident. It remains to be seen whether Kubica will return to motor-racing. But for me Kubica is a talented driver and if we do see him back on the grid i'd be over the moon.

Whether you like him or not Kubica is a cool guy and one that i'd like to see become Champion if he return's to the sport.

How do you rate Kubica?

I think being a Pirelli test driver would be ideal for RK. It would let him get used to drivng an F1 car again (and it is a car he is already familiar with) without having to worry about other drivers on the track. I truly hope he makes it back into F1 in top shape, but I continue to have my doubts. That being said, I wish him all the luck in world

Kubica's experience will be very good for Pirelli, even if he doesn't have the fitness to get back into F1 this would be perfect for him. I think it'll be a good move for both parties plus with Jaime Alguersuari on board this year aswell Pirelli would be getting drivers who give good feed back with the tyres.

If Kubica is ever able to start driving single seaters at some point again this year, I think he should go for the Pirelli test driver role as it would be the best way of marketing himself in my opinion for a 2013 race seat. ... If he joined Pirelli, they're using the Renault 2010 car which he'd already be familiar with, being surrounded by the Pirelli engineers would be the perfect opportunity to learn about the new tyres and every team sends a representative to the Pirelli tyre tests so they'd all be able judge if he's recovered and how good he may be.

Autosport says that RK plans to run an entire season in 2013. Although I saw nothing in the story about which series he will participate in, I assume it will be rallying. He admits he is starting at ground zero as far as F1 is concerned.

As always I remain hopeful that he will be back in F1 some day, and I hope his plans for next year work out well for him.

siffert_fan I remain hopeful as well, but equally I remain hopeful I'm going to win the lottery and I see both as being equally likely. IMO his window has gone and he'll never be the man he was, which is a loss to all F1 fans. Perhaps we should look to take the positives out of it and be grateful at least that he wasn't killed.

So he's not trying to get anywhere near F1 for the next 2 years, and likely longer if he can get a longer rallying contract. Everything I read tells me that F1 is definitely over (not that it hasn't appeared that way for months), sad to say, we just need to move on. As he rightly says, "you cannot get everything you desire out of life".

Considering the rapid movements of the steering wheel required in driving a rally car, I'm amazed that he can do that. I do feel sorry for him but from my personal perspective I had given up hope of his returning to F1 a long time ago. Of course, one can never really say never until the individuals directly involved say it themselves.

Fenderman,

I agree 100%. I have never harboured any real hope of his returning to F1, I have always wanted it just the same.

I am amazed that he drive rally cars, as I would have thought that the pounding the driver and navigator receive would make for a sizeable risk that RK might lose his grip on the wheel. Apparently I'm wrong about that (no surprise). I am just ecstatic that he is able to continue gracing motor racing with his talents.

One of the last times Kubica would have been in an F1 car before his crash, could well be the last time he's ever in an F1 car, quite a sad photo really when you think about it
