Team History

Before Red Bull

In 1997 Paul Stewart, aided by his father Jackie and the Ford Motor Company, made the leap from F3000 to F1 as an entrant. Jonny Herbert won 1 race for the Stewart team before it was sold off to Ford who re-branded the cars as Jaguar.

Ford stuck with it through thick and thin (mainly thin) through to the end of 2004 before selling the team to Dietrich Mateschitz, who owns the Red Bull drinks brand, for $1 on the understanding he invested $400 million over 3 years

Red Bull Racing

With Christian Horner installed as team principal, McLaren refugee David Coulthard and Christian Klien as the drivers Red Bull went racing. Their first season was certainly more successful than Jaguar had managed, even with the same Cosworth power plant, with Coulthard managing a 4th place at the European Grand Prix and the team finishing 7th in the Constructors Championship.

Adrian Newey joined from McLaren as chief designer for 2006 and Red Bull swapped to Ferrari engines. Coulthard managed a podium at his "home" race in Monaco prompting Christian Horner to jump naked, other than wearing a red cape, into a swimming pool.

Christian Klien, who shared the car with Vitantonio Liuzzi in 2005 and Robert Doornbos in 2006, departed the team for 2007 and was replaced by Mark Webber. The RB3 was the first full "Newey" car and was coupled with a Renault motor. The car was very unreliable, suffering from a variety of different problems but Webber managed a podium at the European Grand Prix and the team finished 5th in the WCC.

Retaining the same engine and drivers for 2008 Red Bull slipped back to 7th in the WCC and again only managed a single podium, for Coulthard in Canada, but the reliability issues which plagued the car the previous season were mainly resolved.

2009 was Red Bull's break through year. With Coulthard having retired Webber was joined by Red Bull junior driver Sebastien Vettel. The new rules allowed Newey to design a car which challenged for both the Drivers and Constructors Championship. Webber won 2 races, Vettel 4 and the team climbed to 2nd in WCC taking 3 pole positions en-route.

In 2010 Red Bull justified Mateschitz's investment winning the Constructors title and Vettel the Drivers Championship. They won 9 races through the season, 5 for Vettel and 4 for Webber and took 10 poles. Webber led the title race for much of the season but it was the 23 year old Vettel who stole the title in the last race of the season and became the youngest Champion as a result.

2011 sees the team retain the same driver line up as 2010 and continue with Renault engine power in the new RB7 car.

I am really surprised Red Bull are doing this. I wonder how much of this is happening because Max is kicking up a real stink behind the scenes.

As I understand it they are stating that Red bull are contemplating further action and considering using lawyers, which is far from "we are taking legal action" just Red Bull hype, anything go stir it up:dunno:

I am trying to compare this to Suzuka 1989 which Senna was adjudged to have rejoined illegally but because Mclaren appealed on his behalf they got slapped with a 6 month driving ban !!!:o:facepalm:

I do not think Red Bull have got a case if anything lets see what happens when Max crashes into someone then... beware what you wish for

In response to Horner " I was an amateur driver" Masi has said team bosses are not allowed to lobby to the stewards unless invited

Red Bull have not forgotten to act though as has been noted by the FIA Splash. Quite a few weeks ago when it comes down to it.

"The first race at which the new tests will come into force is the French Grand Prix on 25-27 June."

I don't know about the Mercedes bending front wing though.

The FIA have agreed to review it - https://www.motorsportmagazine.com/...5hvXWQha-YS9DE4v7ciAFqbL2DRbNo00aCHXynFzrRwqA

I do recall teams in the past requesting a review of a stewards decision and for the punishment to be increased. However, this was usually the one who had been punished.

What money Red Bull threaten to pull out of F1 if there is no further action given that they are tiny, tiny, little men who deserve nothing but our contempt.

They dont deserve our contempt they just need to 🤬 off the losers

is it just me that thinks red bull are opening themselves up to showing massive weakness. because the fact that are still stewing on this incident. which has been discussed alot isnt 100% anyone fault. i believe is a racing incident & battles that we all tune in to watch most sundays but thats by the by

its obvious red bull dont believe are good enough to take Mercedes on head to head & were desperate to hang on to that 1 race points advantage. if they had let this go on the monday & declined to appeal expressing there disappointment but saying how they fight on & rebuild the advantage on track. they wouldve looked stronger

All I ever want to see in F1 is healthy competition (and some ingenious design work)

I can quite honestly say however, in the wake of Red Bull's management showing themselves to be the whiniest bunch of weasels it's possible to be, that I have never wanted Mercedes to win a title so much.

**** 'em.

Absolutely pathetic.

They got Alex Albon to re-enact the lap on a filming day.. Just smacks of desperation on behalf of Christian Horner and Helmut Marko.

Creating your own evidence to then “prove“ the gulit of another party….I don’t know about you guys but that to me smacks of utter desperation and a rather uncomfortable thought that Red Bull seem to think that they are better than everyone else….cleverer, more imaginaittve and where there are rules they can bend them but others? …..no the others always break them….they are nasty cheats while Red Bull are the pure and justified champion’s…..

Sorry but now I just hope Hamilton steamrollers them.
