Nico Rosberg

Nico Erik Rosberg, son of Keijo "Keke" Erik Rosberg, is about to have his 100th Grand Prix meeting this weekend in Hungary.

I was about to write my "best wishes" to him in 'his' thread...but I couldn't find one...so, I figured I might as well start it off.

What is very interesting is that his father, Keke, took part in 114 Grand Prix races in his entire Formula One career, winning 5 of them - all for Williams from 1982 to 1985 - as well as a World Championship.

It's interesting in that Nico is approaching that number quickly and he's already about to finish off his 6th season in a few months...but without a win to his name...and no win in sight given the current pecking order of the cars.

Some say Nico is a great talent...while others say he hasn't fared well against quality teammates in their prime, so it's hard to judge. Mark Webber is, seemingly, his only reasonable benchmark and that was way back in his rookie season in a car that was one of the worst ones ever constructed by Williams.

What are people's thoughts on Nico Rosberg?

Regardless, Godspeed to Nico on the occassion of his 100th Grand Prix this weekend! :)

I have a feeling that rosberg hasnt watched much english football because I dont think he gets his own analogy that he can be f1's version of Leicester City because Mercedes winning no surprise as he his driving the best car , for same impact would've to be mex verstappen in Toro Rosso or nasr in Sauber. Because Leicester were 5000/1 to win the premier league title in comparison is werlein is 2500 /1 to win Bahrain gp

Nico Rosberg: I can be F1's answer to Leicester City!

Nico Rosberg is public relations answer to Manchester United. He knows exactly how to play the game but everytime he does more and more people start to dislike him.

I mean seriously that kid is so prepped by his publicist for great things to say and associate with in the media he almost squeaks, yet it just comes across as so see through.

Stick to the driving Nico and leave the spin to others.

I'd say Brendan's Liverpool.

Sounds like a PR statement at all times, talks a very good game, decent for a short time in 2014. Most likely to prove a lack of ability just after interviews expressing that everything is great, and then bluster that conceding 3 vs Palace/threatened by Vettel in WCC is entirely normal and to be expected.

It may sound irrelevant because its a long season but 5 win a row would give Rosberg confidence and he 's carried on as from last season

I have to say Rosberg appears to be more focused this season and is ready to pick up the pieces if Hamilton slips up .

Even Schumacher did not let Barrichello to win 5 races in a row.

The stats don't lie

A driver winning 4 races in a row has always been a world champion in the season they won the 4th race in a row

A driver winning 5 in a row has only been achieved by a few drivers and all of them world champions... Rosberg has done something neither Hakkinen, Senna or Prost has achieved

I know Hamilton is not worried but he has to sort out his starts because it seems Rosberg's got a bit of luck this season and is having much cleaner races

While yes, he has won 5 in a row, I just can help but think it doesn't really count as the last 3 were all after Hamilton had already put the title on his shelf at home. I'm absolutely sure that Hamilton would have wanted to win more races the wins in themselves didn't really matter in the over all scheme of things. For Rosberg they may have restored a little pride but it was too little too late.

The one area where it will have helped of course is to boost Rosberg's confidence which has been battered over the last 2 years. I think China becomes a key point in the early season development now. Should Hamilton have another problem and Rosberg gets himself a 1 win cushion in the points then the Hamilton will be playing catch up and the mind set between the two may balance out for a while.

All well and good that Rosberg has won 5 races in a row, we shall see by the end of the race in Abu Dhabi in November if it really means anything at all.

Yes Hamilton is giving the old fighting talk " Muhammad Ali" style but he's got to sort the start out. Last weekend though Rosberg appeared to have the edge all weekend anyway

Nico's got his head down and got on with it so far this year. Despite having about as much zest and personality as a candlestick and Hamilton binning his starts, fair play to Nico. He's grabbing his chance with both hands at the moment.
