I think he did what I have done recently and have been trying to iron out. When you focus too much on defending you lose the people in front of you. It was fantastic to watch him defend incredibly skillfully but I feel that the sacrifice for that was too much.
Nico fought valiantly today. He may have won some battles, but he lost the war.
There's no doubt he helped Lewis out as well by scrapping with that gaggle. That was a very unfamiliar position for Hamilton, the old lying in the weeds tactic, and he clearly enjoyed that result.

Lewis has explained, in a post race interview...that his car did not feel right until after his second pitstop...

Which is weird because he went back out on them at the first stop. Lewis wonders if something wasnt set quite right after that rebuild and it mannaged to sort itself, so sudden was the change.
I wonder if those Mercs are just one hell of a lot better on light fuel and particularly bad when heavy.

Ross probably decided to get both Medium stints out of the way while everyone was battling away in front of Lewis. It was a genius strategy that worked a treat!

Yes, they could have done two changes to hards. Don't understand that. Unless (well with Lewis) they thought he could manage the tyres and be faster on the mediums to get through traffic. It seems the sudden pick up in speed was irrelevant to the tyre he was on, but made it look like the mediums performed worse than the hards.
It's also a possibility that the tyres he started on were not happy with the cycle that they had been put through in qualifying.

From waht Lewis was saying in his interview it sounded like a much more dramatic difference. I wonder if it was an issue with the differential as that is housed with the gear box and suspension assembly. He implied that his issues were associated with the gearbox change.

very happy lewis finished 5th,shame he started the race in 9th and quickly fell back to 11th.
he's now 36 points ahead of nico.he's doing well so far.
nico will outqualify lewis more times this season,all of lewis's teammates outquali him sometimes,so its weird to see ppl act like its something new.
