Current Sir Lewis Carl Davidson Hamilton MBE

A place to put all the posts from all the other threads primarily but love him or hate him, and even for the indifferent amongst us this is the place to discuss the marmite that is Lewis Hamilton, to learn a thing or two about his rise, talk about those controversial, genius or mad moments and something that i am bemused by, the recent articles that suggest something quite different to my perception of what's going on. Any experiences of meeting LH?

Brundle had to write a Lewis Hamilton article recently and in my tweets (which were probably ignored) I asked him to talk about LH the driver not LH the personality. It seems that you can't have one without the other.

So as a starter for ten, here is a fairly recent LH article. Posts should not be limited to this link but it can get some discussion going. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/formula_one/13755883.stm

The only banned topic as it is clearly ridiculous involves these four things "Glock" "2008" "Brazil" "conspiracy"

Hamilton is in a strong bargaining position. If you have not heard Mercedes actually cut jobs in their car building business and have shifted their focus on E - cars and no doubt looking at Formula E and investing in it seriously so will this mean that their F1 programme will not be as high priority with resources moved elsewhere. Hamilton achievement's is great marketing for Merc so if he were to leave. Mercedes might take a while to get back to the front and surely they would not contemplate signing Alonso for 2021 ??

Lewis Hamilton came 2nd in bbc sports personality of the year. no surprise to me because ben stokes did deserve it man of match in cricket world cup final & then that incredible innings at headingley his name was on the trophy

Go Ben Stokes! I went to school in Cockermouth from the age of 11 when we moved to that area because of my Dads job. The rest of my school days were spent there , at the time Tennis was a big thing at school, as was hockey, netball, football and rugby. I don’t remember cricket.
i guess it changed.

Lewis Hamilton with one win and 4 second places is now the joint greatest sports Personality nominated person ever. His personality record of 5 places means he has the same personality record as Steve Davis however Steve Davis has 1 win, 2 seconds and 2 thirds. They both have to go some way to match Andy Murray for wins and who has been a winning personality on 3 occasions.

is it just me but i am against this. because we cant forget Lewis has a MBE so he is recognised, i am so not saying he doesnt fully deserves a knighthood because he does but only once he finished.

i have always been strongly against active sportsman competing as sir's

also what i thought of after posting is that we please these & give Lewis Hamilton a knighthood for 6. his career is not over & are given no room for what happens if he matches or surpasses Schumacher. if andy murray next year had got a knighthood for services to tennis & all his achievements nobody wouldve minded if anything it wouldve meant more than given in constant cycle of preparing for the next grand slam like it was

It's all a load of bollocks anyway but when someone who won a series of The Great British Bake Off a few years ago is awarded an MBE, it's apparent how meaningless it is.

It’s all a load of rubbish. Their are exceptional circumstances where bestowing a knighthood is warranted, but they are very rare.
Getting one for doing your job well is a load of bollocks. Look at the list..... singers, songwriters, sportsmen and women, other professions, mostly people who have no impact on my life or yours, other than for a fleeting moment, perhaps. Mostly I couldn’t give a monkeys toss about any of them.
And they certainly don’t give a monkeys toss about us. The cult of celebrity.
It’s all Rubbish.
