Current Lewis Hamilton

A place to put all the posts from all the other threads primarily but love him or hate him, and even for the indifferent amongst us this is the place to discuss the marmite that is Lewis Hamilton, to learn a thing or two about his rise, talk about those controversial, genius or mad moments and something that i am bemused by, the recent articles that suggest something quite different to my perception of what's going on. Any experiences of meeting LH?

Brundle had to write a Lewis Hamilton article recently and in my tweets (which were probably ignored) I asked him to talk about LH the driver not LH the personality. It seems that you can't have one without the other.

So as a starter for ten, here is a fairly recent LH article. Posts should not be limited to this link but it can get some discussion going. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/formula_one/13755883.stm

The only banned topic as it is clearly ridiculous involves these four things "Glock" "2008" "Brazil" "conspiracy"

Keke, do you think catching a tow in Vettel's slipstream on the restart would have helped Lewis keep 3rd?

Or would the Mercedes have over-taken the McLaren even if the McLaren was closer to the RBR and in it's slipstream?

I think I've been pretty clear. I don't believe a tow from Seb would have enabled Lewis to fend off Michael.

One thing is for sure though. We'll never know the answer.

When you see the replay again Ray you'll see that Schumacher came from WAY BACK and simply cruised past the McLaren on the outside into the chicane.

edit-
"It was a good race, I got some points and I finished so I can't really complain."

It does indicate a departure from the style that has garnered him enormous success and a fanatical following. But that's also what has earned him heaps of criticism.

Hamilton knew it was very important for him to finish and so he did. Everything else was secondary. Going forward, the fight with Schumi and the level restraint he exercised will hold him in good stead for many races to come. I don't think McLaren envisaged that they'll end up in a fight with one if not the fastest car in straight line so early in the race. I feel the setup was right, just the circumstances didn't go according to plan. Had they gone the other way and run longer gear ratios, they would've struggled to pass the Ferrari let alone the Redbull, even if this would've allowed them to dispatch the Mercedes.

Personally I thought the stewards handled the battle between MS and LH perfectly fine. They let the battle continue but did tell Mercedes to warn MS - and he was not as aggressive after they did.

We were finally treated to a proper battle, I'm not complaining.

If the situation was reversed, do you think that the same type of warning would have been given to Whitmarsh?

In all fairness I think a good exit out of parabolica would've helped. Schumacher was literally on his tail before the start line so had already neutralised the McLaren's cornering superiority and all the indications are that he went past before Hamilton even hit the rev limiter.Freeze the footage below at 01:59. Schumacher went past way too early, better top end speed or not.

Yes, he was given a warning in Malaysia 2010 where he did excessively.

A year later he does it again.

Are you quoting........... the breaking of a tow........
When Lewis was demonised....weaving...NO...moving out of the way...allowing the driver to get past.....if he could manage it ?
Or are you a Ferarri bod & was this the Alonso case.......Hey...FA did a fair bit of weaving today1

Hamilton’s already admitted on the forum he was caught napping, he said he was watching Schumacher in his mirrors when the cars in front bolted and caught him out.

We don't receive those post race interviews here in the states, and I was really suprised to see him caught out like that, at the re-start.

Breaking the tow is disadvantaging the driver behind, Hamilton did it for several seconds on Petrov in 2010, can't remember the Alonso one, but it wasn't much in it.

Hamilton's one was more of an offence.

As for your other comment, I am not even going to comment on that as I don't know how you got to such a conclusion.
