Pre-Season JEREZ TEST 10th-14th Feb 2011

Williams are obviously keen to put some laps in today after yesterday's rather embarrassing lack of running. Good to see Mr Maldonado get down to some competitive times very quickly.

Anyone know when they will let Heidfeld loose in the Reault?

Lotus Renault GP has revised its driver line-up for this week’s test session in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain.
Vitaly will drive the R31 on Thursday and Friday, as originally scheduled. For Saturday and Sunday, the team will give mileage to Bruno Senna and will also evaluate Nick Heidfeld, who is a potential replacement for Robert Kubica as a race driver. The exact running order for the weekend will be confirmed on Friday evening.

Nice to see Maldonado has worked out which pedal is the throttle. Poor old Mercedes seem to be having a tough time still.

Michael Schumacher is in the process of blowing everyone into the weeds, having set the quickest time of the test so far (1m20.352s) he just casually proceeds to reel off the laps- 8 so far - showing that it isn't a glory run. The drop off in lap time is quite alarming though, so I'm guessing he is on the supersoft.

Good point about the tyres. But haven't Pirrelli done exactly what we asked for and they promised. We wanted tyres that would degrade to stop the drivers running the whole race on a single set of tyres.
If Schumacher is on the supersoft the teams face the choice of trying to qualify on pole on supersofts and then be forced to make a pit sop after a couple of laps as the tyres will have had it.They would then have to make at least two more stops for tyres as the option compound will not last the entire race distance.

Darned if I know!

They're particularly tardy at Jerez taking at least 25 minutes to recover every vehicle that has been off or broken down during this test.

I'm going to write to my MP!
