Indy Car and general US Motorsports

Jack Harvey in his recent interview reflected on the challenges he has faced in his IndyCar career. From being replaced at Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing in 2023 to now navigating an uncertain future, Jack remains determined to keep pursuing his dream.

He shares insights on moving from the UK to chase a racing career, competing for seats with friends, and building opportunities beyond the cockpit.

Here is his full interview:

What are your thoughts on his journey so far? Could he make a return to the grid?

i like Jack harvey & he did very well as he was a underdog. but the problem is that he was there when Indycar was a secret & the problem for him is the cats out of the bag its getting to back to how it was in 90's where people are realising that if you cant get to F1 that Indycar is next best single seater series. because of how drivers from F1 & F2 have taken the plunge. like Ericsson, Grosjean, illott, Pourchaire, Rossi, Vips, Rosenquist. so he just been eased out

very much looked forward to this season, its moved to FOX in america & Will buxton has left F1 to be Lead commentator

Daytona was fun, especially the Caddy/BMW fight where they became so intent on literally knocking lumps out of eachother that they both ended up losing to Ford.

its an absoulte pleasure to watch Alex Palou at the moment. he is almost unbeatable on road courses 3x champion & started his defence with a 1st 1st 2nd 1st. he's beating what is a quality field with ease. i think he is already up with Dixon, AJ foyt, Mario Andretti & Castroneves. if he doesnt leave for F1 & wins a indy 500. he could surpass them to be the greatest American open wheel driver

alex palou won again at the weekend, nearly 100pt lead. already looking odds on to win 3 in a row & take his 4th title in 5 years. it is possible if he stays in indycar. which is looking likely as would you risk a move to F1 as a 29yr rookie (next march) trundling around in the midfield at best. ruining your reputation like Bourdais & Zanardi did. who seemingly extremely highly rated in states.

but if he stays he could break all the indycar records. this is a guy who likely could be a 4 time world champion at 28. level with Mario Andretti, Sebastian Bourdais & Dario Franchitti. whose to say he cant win at least 3 in the next decade & tie with AJ Foyt on 7. if he wanted to he could be an 8, 9 maybe even 10 time champion by the time hes 40

wow. all 3 penske race statergists gone. not surprise with cindric after last season push to pass scandal. roger penske has been brutal & probally had to be to keep his own credibility as team & series owner
  • 26 years as team president & chief race strategist for Newgarden Tim Cindric gone
  • Managing director Ron Ruzewski, who was also the race strategist for Power, has been relieved of his duties after 21 years with Penske.
  • general manager Kyle Moyer. the race strategist for Scott Mclaughlin, has been relieved of his duties after 11 years with Penske.

Fabulous race, the overtake from Palou to move in to 1st was beautifully timed. Marcus Ericsson was demoted from 2nd to the 31st due to a technical infringement - https://www.roadandtrack.com/news/a...-up-indy-500-finish-penalties-andretti-prema/
a brilliant overtake. caught ericsson by surprise. because with the way the statergy played out, lapped cars fuel saving & tyre wear. it was real struggle for any of the leaders to find a way past. 5 wins & 2nd in 6 races is ridiculous.

has 112pt lead on pato o'ward in 2nd. which to put in perspective there is 112 pts between pato oward & 19th. palou judging on last year hes taken 306 in the 1st 6 & only needs 220pts in last 11 races to win his 4th title in 5 years

i stand by what i said on 4th may. as its 1 thing to do verstappen in a brilliant red bull. but to do it in a spec series is something else
if he doesnt leave for F1 & wins a indy 500. he could surpass them to be the greatest American open wheel driver
