Eddie Jordan OBE

EJ Former race driver, Former F1 team owner, he is also a business man an entrepreneur and a mentor.

At present he is lead analyst for the BBC's F1 coverage and seems to know before anyone else exactly what is going with both, the drivers and teams.

So what are your thoughts of the man in the know...

this is so sad, what a man he was, 1 of the most entertaining pundits in sport. so many brilliant stories from his time as a team owner & Pundit on BBC / Channel 4. i remember the shirt he ended up selling for Children In Need in India signed by Paul McCartney. 1 of 1st races i watched was won by damon hill in spa 98 in that yellow jordan & or watching nearly him in a punch up with the photographers in the garage trying to interview newly crowned world champion Jenson for bbc in 2009

Sad news indeed.

Eddie Jordan and Peter Sauber were probably the last of the traditional team owners who reflected a different era of the sport. By the late 90's dear old Bernie needed the car industry to continue to fill his treasure chest and he no longer wanted or needed the likes of Eddie, Ken Tyrrell, Peter Sauber or even Frank Williams.

It should never be underestimated what Jordan was able to do with their 191 car. Look at the teams who had joined F1 in the decade before 1991 and you would have thought their team names all contained the words DNQ or worse still DNPQ.

Jordan came in and shook a lot of the establishment up. The Jordan 191 scored 13 points and finished 5th in the World Championship. Contrast that with the industrial might of Toyota who on debut in 2002 managed to score just 2 points all season.

I was a member of the Jordan GP fan club for a number of years and still have a lot of the memorabilia they sent out to members. Jordan's Jottings in Formula One News was always worth a read.

R.I.P Eddie. You put the fun into F1. Thanks for the memories.

yeah what he did & the wheeling/dealing stories that bernie tells us about. about how he kept an underfunded team on the grid. from im sure irvine & Barrichello were forced out of the door as soon ferrari showed him the money LOL was hugely impressive & yeah i was looking at 20 teams thats joined between 1986 - 1998. only 2 did 100 races Benetton & Jordan

listening to the chequered flag podcast special

i love the story that eddie jordan was obsessed with racing in green in 1991 that he made a list of green liveried companies & targeted them like 7 up & apparently fujifilm werent interested in F1 but EJ stayed for 14 hours & wouldn't leave. so they gave him some money to get rid of him

Sauber and Jordan...

Minardi was a team in its own right mate. They stepped up from F2 in 1984.

Osella started in 1980 and became Fondmetal in 1990.
