FIA Adam Parr's Tweet

For the teams to field a third car wouldn't be much of a stretch at all. Currently they don't have an actual spare car ready to go but they have enough parts to rebuild a couple of complete cars every weekend. The circuits will already have the garage space available. The hardest task will be getting the additional drivers in.

One thing that hasn't been discussed is pit stops. You know the chaos we have when everyone pits during a safety car, double stacking is a fine art but imagine trying to triple stack. The teams will have more space between each other as well in the actual pit lane so would also make things a little safer.

If this is not likely to happen until 2016 and Mercedes are in front again next season, probably with a lesser advantage, it would be an excellent time for Mercedes to once again say "goodbye, but there's nothing left for us to win and there are not enough teams to make it viable". So it would be 7 teams left.

So with the news of Marussia going in to Administration today, who's the more likely to be the 3rd Team to call it a day:

Lotus or Sauber?

Just this Adam Parr bloke has got 66% of his vision right so far........

According to AMuS, Force India are struggling to pay their engine bill to Merc, who may withhold their fifth engines if they don't pay up.

So lets say you are a struggling F1 team (aren't most) and you are about to go into administration.

Then there is a knock at your door and in walks Vijay Mallaya and Tony Fernandes who offer to buy your team.

Do you -

A) Take them up on there offer.
B) Draw a pentagon on the floor and Summon The Devil to see if he has a better offer.
C) Go into administration.

E) Place bets on the first car to retire at each GP and one of make your drivers hit a wall at the first corner. It works in football.

It worked in high finance as well. Sell a mortgage to a couple who could not get anywhere being able to afford it. Bet on them failing to afford the mortgage.

I recommend you watch Ted Kravitz view on Sky sports in which he mentions

i) Caterham are pretty much dead
ii) Marussia is the team that a new buyer would want to save because they are 9th in the constructors so barring Sauber performing miracles will get $20m - that is a lot of money to throw down the toilet. Its not going to be like Prost where the pressure to succeed as a French national team failed badly

iii) Bernie might carry on with 18 or 20 at least if Marussia can be bought. Reason being Haas will be in and they have Ferrari support

He also mentions 3 car teams is possible with Ferrari, Mclaren, Mercedes and Red Bull but obviously the problems with constructors and whether the 3rd driver should be standing on the podium

a separate note

Force India - somehow VJ is managed to survive despite his business not doing well and his other partner Sahara - being very shady

Sauber - How long can this team survive ?
