A place to put all the posts from all the other threads primarily but love him or hate him, and even for the indifferent amongst us this is the place to discuss the marmite that is Lewis Hamilton, to learn a thing or two about his rise, talk about those controversial, genius or mad moments and something that i am bemused by, the recent articles that suggest something quite different to my perception of what's going on. Any experiences of meeting LH?

Brundle had to write a Lewis Hamilton article recently and in my tweets (which were probably ignored) I asked him to talk about LH the driver not LH the personality. It seems that you can't have one without the other.

Is a Grand Chelem a real thing? Was it something invented from about 2007 onwards.

Don't be silly, RasputinLives, they just effectively did not happen in the refuelling era. The first one after Schumi in 2004 was Alonso in 2010 so 2007 is way off.

teabagyokel they just weren't mentioned like that until quite recently- certainly, no-one talked about mansell's win in South Africa 1992 in such terms! (At the time anyway).... I'm not sure why it's defined as a 'perfect weekend', as it ignores the practice sessions as well!

Also, in the days of two qualifying sessions, did the driver not need to set the fastest time in both qualifying sessions?

Oh my god, meaningless or not it's an achievement all the same and one that's been worthy of highlighting.

Lewis Hamilton has achieved more poles than any other Englishman in F1.

Although Hamilton wasn't in the lead for the whole race, due to Hülkenberg pitting after him, the lap chart does show Hamilton as having led every lap.

I'm not trying to be funny or anything but aren't these sort of records rather silly? for instance Alonso has scored more points than any other driver but that stat is meaningless due to the changes in the points system over the years, and Jim Clark scored 30 poles but he only took part in 93 F1 races and Lewis has scored 30 poles and has taken part in 141 F1 qualifying seasons including Malaysia and so we are not really comparing eggs with eggs here are we, so when Lewis reaches about a 30% qualifying hit rate then he can claim to have equaled Jim Clark.

This isn't to say that Lewis is not a great qualifier because he obviously is.....

I'll go and don my tin foil hat now...

Don't forget that Stewart only took part in100 races,and his cars were frequently rather far from being the best on the grid.

To be fair all F1 drivers spout robotic drivel as that's how they're trained by the PR machines that are modern F1 teams. Didn't Rosberg proclaim Australia his best ever win? Yawn at the boring, sterile World we live in.

Well, let's face it, he's not got much choice has he? The other three were all dominant, except for the one where he waited for two of them to fall off the road in front of him.
