On the face of it, it would seem like an easy question. Name your greatest team ever......

So, let's make it less easy and FIA style, introduce some rules to make things a bit more difficult.

You are the team owner, and you have a free hand to select any thing from the entire history of F1 back to 1950.

So, you need to pick the following.

Driver 1
Driver 2
Car
Engine
Designer / Technical Chief
Sponsorship or Car Paint scheme

Ok. Now, for the rules:

1) None of your three team personnel must have driven or worked with each other before:

e.g you can't pick Chapman and Clark or Button and Hamilton

2) Your selected drivers must have never driven the car you have chosen

e.g. you can't pick Clark and the Lotus 49

3) You can not pick the same engine as used by the car

e.g. you can't pick the Mclaren MP4/4 and the Honda RA168-E

4) You can't pick the technical guru / designer who was responsible for your car

e.g. you can't pick Gerry Anderson and the Jordan 191

5) You can't pick the sponsorship / paint job that was used on your car

e.g. you can't pick the Hesketh 308D and the Penthouse Rizla paint scheme

So given these rules, who would you put together to create the greatest team that the F1 world had ever seen?

(this should take some thinking about :D )

Try this :)

Driver 1: Ayrton Senna
Driver 2: Sebastian Vettel
Car: Williams F14B
Engine: Honda RA168-E
Designer / Technical Chief: Ross Brawn
Sponsorship or Car Paint scheme: Brawn BGP001

I could go for Newey because that would have eliminated so many of the best cars I could choose as well as Vettel as a driver. I don't think it matters so much because I have the best car Adrian even built (in my opinion!).

Driver 1: Ayrton Senna
Driver 2: Graham Hill
Car: Ferrari F2004
Engine: Mercedes
Designer / Technical Chief: Adrian Newey
Sponsorship or Car Paint scheme: The one of the Jaguar R101

Juan Fangio
Jack Brabham
Lancia D50
Engine - Ford Cosworth DFV
Designer / Technical Chief - Rory Byrne
Sponsorship or Car Paint scheme - 1969 Brabham

Driver 1 - Ayrton Senna
Driver 2 - Lewis Hamilton

Car - McLaren MP4/13

Engine - Honda RA168E 1.5 V6T

Designer/Technical Chief - Colin Chapman

Sponsorship - Blue and white Rothmans

I'm going to go for:

Driver 1 - Jim Clark
Driver 2 - Ronnie Peterson
Car - Mclaren MP4/4
Engine - Ford Cosworth DFV
Designer / Technical Chief: Adrian Newey
Sponsorship / Paint Scheme - Jordan 191

I've gone for Clark / Peterson because I think they would compliment each other pefectly with driving styles and as team mates.

Going for a Lotus Driver knocks out plenty of great cars but leaves the Mclaren MP4/4 which is among one of F1's greatest ever

The Cosworth DFV is without doubt the best motorsport engine ever made

It doesn't matter that I can't select Chapman and Murry when I can select Newey

The green Jordan 191 remains a high water mark in non-tabacco sponsored cars. A real beauty of a car.

Driver 1 - Ayrton Senna
Driver 2 - Lewis Hamilton
Car - F2004
Engine - BMW P84
Designer / Technical Chief - Colin Chapman
Sponsorship or Car Paint Scheme - McLaren Vodafone livery (2007-) (I know the F2004 had some Vodafone sponsorship... but it wasn't the main sponsor)

I was tempted to choose the Alfetta 158/159 but I don't know enough about the period to make any kind of informed decision.

4) You can't pick the technical guru / designer who was responsible for your car

e.g. you can't pick Gerry Anderson and the Jordan 191

Technically I think Gerry Anderson did this:

not this:

although there is a certain family resemblance I grant you!

Driver 1 - Jim Clark
Driver 2 - Alain Prost
Car - Brabham BT52
Engine - Ferrari 044 (1995)
Designer / Technical Chief: Mauro Forghieri
Sponsorship / Paint Scheme - Leyton House March c.1990

Driver 1 - Juan Manuel Fangio
Look at his win percentages!
Driver 2 - Emerson Fittipaldi
I think he wasted a lot of time in that Copersucar. He won the Indy 500 21 years after his first F1 title, so clearly there was talent and longevity.
Car - Red Bull RB7
Go with today's best car, I say!
Engine - BMW P83
The RB7 isn't so fast in a straight line, so it needs an engine with some clout to really make it the complete package. Specifically, the one that Montoya won by a minute at Hockenheim with.
Tech Chief - Rory Byrne
Ferrari's problems started to appear very soon after the departure of one Rory Byrne.
Paint - Spyker F8-VII
I'm a sucker for an orange car!

I am sure I wrote this article on "off the pit wall"

Anyway it's cool article :)

Driver 1: Kimi Raikkonen
Driver 2: Sebastien Buemi
Car: McLaren Mp-20 combined with the Ferrari F2004
Engine: BMW P84 (2004 engine)
Designer / Technical Chief: The BFG (Adrian Newey)
Sponsorship or Car Paint scheme: The West McLaren one :)

Driver #1 - Ayrton Senna
Driver #2 - Stirling Moss
car - Williams FW 14B
engine - BMW P84
Designer/ Techhnical chief - Ross Brawn
Sponsorship/ Paint scheme - Red Bull RB7

Driver 1 - Ayrton Senna
Driver 2 - Keke Rosberg
Car - Ferrari F2004
Engine - Honda RA 167-G V6 Turbo (In McLaren MP4-4)
Designer / Technical Chief - Ken Tyrrell
Sponsorship or Car Paint scheme - JPS Lotus 97T 1985

Hope it fit's in the rules too.........
