Dan Ricciardo is already Red Bull's test driver so no doubt he is familiar with the car (mostly from the simulator though).

Hello 2011 season. your arrival came a lot sonner then i expected LOL

Wonder if anybody can force themsleves into a drive here? suprsingly quite a few seat that still haven't been confirmed yet. Nothing particular staggering yet though.

And yeah Riccardo is pretty damn good from what i heard/seen. considering i don't think the Torro rosso guys are confirmed and some critics have been luke warm over the two current drviers, Anyone think he might force himself into a torro rosso seat for 2011.

To put the times in perspective, the pole position time by Vettel on Saturday was: 1:39.394

Ricciardo's fastest time so far is: 1:39.616, which is faster than everyone from Alonso back.

More support for the argument that it's mainly the car and the driver is only 5% of the package?

..was going to make the same point on the times.

When you have previous seasons performances to go on, i think it would be a fair assumption to make that generally Webber does not have the same degree of speed and skill as Vettel, however i think the 'better' a car is, the easier it is to get the maximum from it and the smaller the gap to your 'superior' team mate will be... Hamilton/Kovalainen last year is another good example; and how Vettel did not show great bursts of speed compared to Webber this year as opposed to last.

No diss on any driver, just I think it shows what a truly great car that Red Bull really is/was!

Raikkonen and Badoer/Fisichella another example.

So Brogan, the 5% thing, in a great car, i would agree with. However when the situation is as last year with Ferrari/McLaren, i think Hamilton/Raikkonen were more like 50% of the performance!

Do i make any sense? :s

That was true when they had TC, ABS, fully automatic gearboxes, active suspension

Is there any back to back testing with the Bridgestone tyres? If not the Pirelli tyres are offering up very comparable times to Bridgestone, also Ricciardo would appear to be a lot more competitive than Mark Webber! :o

Strike that...

Are they running this rookie test just with Bridgestones, just with Pirelli or both?

I would presume they are only running Bridgestone tyres as this is more about driver testing than the cars. The review on the F1.com website doesn't mention anything about Pirelli rubber being used which I would have thought it would if they were.

Edit - Pirelli tyres being tested later in the week. Can't cut & paste the quote as it's "copyright of FOM" Look for the paragraph about Pastor Maldonado and HRT.

Those times are pretty startling in comparison to the weekend. More rubber down? Cooler temperatures?

The presence of Paffett in fourth makes me take these with a pinch of salt, but - d'Ambrosio and Perez look good to me, in addition to Ricciardo (obviously).
