I was watching a documentary on Channel 5 this weekend called "Rory - The Racing Car" and I have to say I was shocked at what I saw. How the Silverhatch circuit ever got FIA approval to host races is beyond me. What makes matters worse is that the track seems to be endorsed by Sir Stirling Moss!

The racing, if you could call it that, seemed to be a mix of indy cars, NASCARs, rally cars and touring cars. The track itself has almost no run off at any corner. There are huge gaps in the armco which would let any car spin off into thickly wooded areas. There were no marshals anywhere to be seen in fact the only track side staff seemed to be a mechanic who was obsessed with singing and a lady who did everthing else from being a mechanic to acting as a PA for the circuits Italian owner.

The strangest thing of all is that apart from the fact that there are no grandstands, no safety features of note and no car parks, the track layout is still better than anything Herman Tilke has ever designed.

So lets get on to the FIA and get them to make Silverhatch safe for F1
