Felipe Massa

Brilliant driver on his day but is he championship material?

In 2008 he proved he was but thats only one occassion, plus that season the Ferrari TBH was a bit quicker and won more races that season. In 2009 he nearly suffered a career ending head-injury and since coming to back to the grid he hasn't really shown that promise he did in 2008.

Don't get me wrong he's a driver i very much like, but i do wonder if he'll be a title challenger again for Ferrari season in season out or if he'll stay at Ferrari much longer?

Whats your thoughts on Massa?

It was a combination of the accident which he has never properly recovered from and number 2 status to Alonso. And Alonso being a truly great driver didn't help either.

I didn't expect this tbh. I hope his experience helps Williams get the car sorted and I hope he brings them some much needed money as well.

I'm really glad for Felipe and I hope he does well at Williams. He will go with plenty of experience and technical knowledge that will for sure help improve the team.

Bernie should be happy now that Felipe's has signed with Williams, because he recently contracted a new deal with Brazilian tv, which really need a Brazilian driver to maintain the following of Brazilian fans.

If Hulkenberg hopefully signs on with Lotus........where will Maldonado take his millions of Venezuelan petrol dollars?

I'm really pleased with this, I think it's a good decision for both parties, although a little surprised at the three year deal.

About time they got someone in Grove who could help them get their car consistently sorted and can drive a bit too ;)

He's very much following the career path marked "Rubens Barrichello" at the moment, isn't he?
Ah yes, but Rubens had those two delicious wins in the Brawn in '09, as a little sweetener, didn't he? With the best will in the world, I just can't see Williams being able to deliver such a fillip to Felipe next year...;)

Glad he's still on the grid though, and looking forward to seeing if he can help tug Team Willy out of the pants they're in...erm, perhaps I should re-phrase?:snigger:

Definitely...LOL

I'm a perplexed as to why he would choose Williams over McLaren and what the "more constructive team for the future" means

"Maybe a strong choice was going to be McLaren, but McLaren took a different direction for them. So in my opinion Williams I think was the most constructive team for the future. And I really believe my choice was the good one."

It means he went to Mclaren and offered to drive for them and they laughed at him. So he decided Williams would be a more constructive team for him as firstly they didn't laugh at him and secondly they are going to let him drive their car.

Please take these 'I talked to this team' thing with a pinch of salt. They mean their agent went and asked them if there was a chance of a drive. I have no doubt in my mind that if Massa had been offered the Mclaren drive he would have bitten their hand off.
