Grand Prix 2025 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix

its the 7th round of the F1 season & its our 1st race back in europe. at the wonderful & historic imola or as it was called, with the very catchy title of 2024 MSC Cruises Gran Premio del Made in Italy e dell'Emilia-Romagna grand prix

Currently, in Italy, 2 major events have captured attention: the F1 race & the papal election. At first glance, one might assume that F1 & the Pope have no connection, but that not true. In 2019, on the 25th anniversary Ayrton Senna's death, Pope Francis was presented with a bronze figure of the legendary driver.

Twenty years ago, we were racing in Imola just days after Pope John Paul was elected. Interestingly, there is a recurring pattern among the teams that won the last five races following the election of a new pope.
1963 - Jim Clark - Lotus
1978 - Mario Andretti - Lotus
1978 - Jaques Laffite - Renault
2005 - Fernando Alonso - Renault
2013 - Kimi Raikkonen - Lotus Renault
does this is mean that Gasly or colapinto will be on winner podiums, as renault power have won the last 3 & enstone team are unbeaten. probably not. but who knows anything is possible when you have god on your side LOL

This weekend marks a regular weekend with no sprints until Spa in July. Lando Norris enters this race under significant pressure; is a must-win or, at the very least, he must outperform his teammate. Although it is still early in the season, the title, currently at a 16 point gap, is beginning to slip from his grasp, while Piastri appears comfortable. Additionally, this could be a chastening homecoming for Ferrari. Whatever updates they introduced to their car over the winter have proven disastrous. in just a few races, they have gone being within reach of a Constructors' title struggling to finish in the top ten. When their 2 star drivers are battling for 7th place, the fault does not lie with the drivers.

If rumours are to be believed, this is due to be the last ever San Marino Grand Prix.

Personally, I wouldn't be unhappy if the entire circuit was dug up, and transformed into parkland. Not because this is a particularly bad circuit, but because we cannot go to Imola without the ghosts of Senna and Ratzenberger haunting the event.

What makes the circuit even more painful is that, according to Italian law, the race should have been cancelled - the fact that Ratzenberger died at the circuit on the Saturday meant that the race should be cancelled for police investigations. However, someone in charge decided that Ratzenberger didn't die at the circuit, but instead at the hospital.

wouldn't surprise me if this is the final time at imola, we really shouldn't be here anyway. it was only a global pandemic that brought us back to imola in early November was a surprise to me when post covid the contract was extended. i fully assumed imola would go the same way as portimao, mugello & nurburgring. in that way i wouldnt be sad to leave imola, overtaking is difficult with narrow track but cars dont help being as bad in dirty air as i can remember. also i think the contract shouldve ran out in 2024 but the floods & cancelled race meant the contract got extended by a yr.

i know what you mean about senna & ratsenberger. in 1 way you never want to shake off the ghosts of the past. but imola will be forever haunted by the events of that weekend.

the imola weekend was 4 yrs before i took any interest in F1. the common sense side of me is always shocked that race ever started on sunday & even more shocked that it even restarted post sennas accident. but the cynical side has seen numerous races that shouldve never have gone ahead but did & F1 in that respect have never learnt their lesson

Imola unfortunately will be forever stained with 1994

The revision of the Tamburello and Villeneuve corner are a result of that

Eveyone really took the place for granted about the high speed blast from the start round Tamburello and Villeneuve sweep until that tragic weekend . There have been near death misses with Berger getting burned in 1989 one of the first races I watched live.

What it also did was take away two of the passing places on the track as I think we will see a processional race.
I don;t remember any race being exciting at Imola barring Schumacher with his superior tyres suddenly vaulting up in 2005 past everyone and Alonso putting up a great rear guard action and the mixed conditions of 2021

interesting that ferrari have brought alot rear updates, is that an admission where the issues are
Ted does not believe they helped significantly

I had not taken notice they changed the suspension geometry completely so they've gone backwards taken the wrong route on that part

thats a huge crash. no matter how many times i see crashes like that. its still incredible that tsunoda can walk away from a crash like that

am i wrong as i reminded me of Barrichello Friday crash on that fateful 1994 weekend

Colapinto has crashed as well

This circuit is punishing

im very worried for lando, he came in as joint favourite with max & its looking like Oscar landslide

aston martin & alonso 5th ๐Ÿ‘€, adrian newey been working very hard it seems ๐Ÿ˜‰

but ferrari wow, what happened over the winter. as i don't understand how a car can go backwards that quickly. from touching distance of Constructors title to struggling to get into Q3

Lando is just not mentally there and I think someone like Mansell would help him

Aston Martin - I think they will go backwards if its not the upgrades and just the tyres doing the job

Ferrari - Cardile left when the car was 90% complete . Even so they don't seem to get grip from fresh tyres . However that shock Q3 exit was unacceptable

I will say Verstappen and Piastri might get together tomorrow because Oscar does not back down as easily so there is hope for Lando
