2021 Silly Season

Hamilton’s saying it’s not guaranteed he’ll be in F1 next year... given that he’s about to win a 7th title, will have just about all of the records, and F1 doesn’t really sit with Hamilton’s green credentials - it might not be completely unsurprising to see Hamilton step away- Hamilton might want to work on his music,,,

You know this could get interesting if Hamilton does a Mansell and walks away. There will be a queue of drivers ringing Mercedes and breaking their contracts.

It's probably about money as always. I think someone is forcing Hamilton to accept a reduced pay and secretly want Vettel in the car . It happened last time with Button so they could get Schumacher

Even if they had Bottas and Stroll as their drivers, they’d win the championship at a canter with their current level of dominance.

i doubt that mercedes need hamilton & hamilton needs mercedes 1 without the other & neither have the level of success, vettel wins in 2017 & 2018, leclerc 2019 & verstappen couldve won it 2020

you look at 2018 when bottas came 5th or if it wasnt for the tyre blowout despite the huge performance difference & Verstappen retiring from 2 more GPs. it wouldve been a 14pt lead

No they would not

Judging by the last few races apart from Monza where he is a specialist Stroll would do as bad as Albon in the 2nd Mercedes.

Bottas just does not have the consistency to be No1

very interesting listening to perez interview in FP2. he said it was highly likely it will be end of the season before he racing or sat on the couch. which makes me think red bull have discussed it with perez but are giving albon the entire season until they make a decision

Let‘s just drop an outrageous rumour onto the bonfire...

  1. Lewis Hamilton is leaving Mercedes
  2. Hamilton will be replaced by (German) Hulkenberg
  3. Albon is leaving Red Bull
  4. Hamilton is joining Red Bull
ok, so it’s ten to one and I can’t sleep, but...

Il_leone - the only incentive is to, as Button did, enter the lion’s den - whilst Button did it with Hamilton’s team, Hamilton could do it with Max’s team.

Even though Honda are pulling out, it isn’t inconceivable that Red Bull could take over the engine, and make a success of it. - they‘be made a success of everything else!

i think hamilton could bridge the performance gap that red bull & Mercedes have because as i always say hamilton has made mercedes seem more dominant they have been. but i am waiting for ineveitable if hamilton had won 2007 world title this was to break the world title record & get his 8th. then i could see him ending on a high

Not the way Red Bull run the team besides Red Bull would not be willing to pay his wages and ruffle Verstappen 's ego
Hamilton is on alot money. as i mentioned on different thread Mercedes couldn't afford Lewis Hamilton in 2012. they had to go petronas to ask for a contribution before they could sign him

Lewis i would say 99% going to be a Mercedes in 2021. but i wouldve said that about rosberg for 2017

Interesting given Petronas are making a lot investment in MotoGP they have to pay Rossi 's wages next season so might not be as willing to fund Hamilton's wages.

There was talk about Ineos buying Mercedes so that would be an avenue to go down. I wonder if Vettel's wages is also being paid by Merc not Stroll 's deep pocket.

The Red Bull scenario I just dont see Hamilton taking a pay cut and it would more like Hamilton swapping with Verstappen after some hard negotiations

Unless Albon learns how to drive an extremely sharply pointed nosed car there'n no point for him.

if horner is anything like me, it going to be so tough because i really wanted with my heart Albon win today which looked extremely possible before that spin & was setting fastest lap after fastest lap. & thought brilliant. they judged far too early on the likes of buemi & vergne

but as much as id want to keep albon, my head is telling me that perez is the right correct decision because in tough races he is always there & his tyre management is maybe the best in field
