Football 2011/12 Football Season

Arteta move has broken down. How many times have Arsenal lost out on a player for the sake of a few few million quid. Arsene, the money's there, spend it!!! What else are you going to do with it???

More u-turns than Bernie Ecclestone and the British GP, Arteta deal is back on. - he asked to leave Everton.

And a loan deal for Mark Beevers from Sheff Wed and a possible deal for a player from a higher division for the mighty (MK) Dons!!!!

Peter Crouch and Stoke seems like a match made in heaven. Or a match played in heaven.
What a stritkeforce that is. Crouch and Jerome. And Palacios has joined aswell. Great business for Stoke.

Also, QPR are due to announce their 10th, 11th and 12th signings of their summer, including the 2010 world cup failure, Shaun Wright-Phillips.

Confirmed: Yossi Benayoun has signed for Arsenal on loan
Confirmed: Raul Meireles (I think that's how you spell it) has handed in a transfer request to Liverpool

Oh another transfer window comes and goes, and all the promises made have been broken, it has been 3 games and I am already footballed out.

We have a executive that talks about how ambitious this club is to go forward and once again become a european challenging club, when you raise 50m excluding other profits and spend less than 10m again pretty much what the basement dwellers spend, you can't possibly have dreams of europe, particularly when the signings are a bunch of "who the?"

And the assistant manager Pardew aka "yes man" goes along with this.

I can't really understand why Liverpool would let Meireles go when he hands in a transfer request 25 minuted before the end of the deadline. And why sign Craig Bellamy- some people at Liverpool have very short memories of the golf club assault on John Arne Riise a few years back. The Meireles deal must be about money, because it looks like Liverpool will be just as good as Chelsea this season if not better to my eyes.

Arsenal might have got Arteta and Benayoun, but I still think they'll fall short of the Champions' League, although the Mertesacker signing should prevent thrashings like the 8-2 at the weekend. It's looking worrying for Spurs, with a number of players gone, and only Parker (Good player, but already 30) and Adebayor on loan coming in.

Sarinaide, I do think Newcastle should have been a bit more adventurous, but I think you'll have a solid enough squad to stay up in mid table. Not progress, but mid table in the Premier League is something us Leeds fans would die for these days.

Stoke might well sneak into Europe. Crouch gets more goals than some might think, and he should cover the days when Kenwyne Jones is disinterested. Palacios is the kind of midfielder that would suit Stoke, and a strong defence and what seems to be a great 'keeper in Begovic could see them as high as seventh in the PL this year. Cameron Jerome- he seemed like an absolute donkey for several years- so I don't really know what's going on there.

As for Leeds, I think we're heading back to League 1 again. Not only has Grayson failed to address our defensive woes (which have been apparent for some 2 years now), but Gradel has gone without a replacement, and yet Billy Paynter will still find a way to get himself in the team once he's fit again, probably at the expense of the much more talented Somma. At least we seem to have got through the window without signing Bosko Balaban (A name that will still make Villa fans shudder).

Newcastle will be fine. A bit premature to hope for Europe at this stage, I think, but Santon in particular is a good player.

Spurs needed to sell before we could buy, and leaving all the departures 'til the last day of the transfer window doesn't help. Still Parker is exactly the sort of player we've been lacking for years and years - probably since Steffen Freund - and apart from wishing for a better striker than Adebayor I'm pretty happy with the business that's been done. We should be no worse than last season, if no better. Time will tell if it's enough to get closer to Arsenal and/or stay ahead of Liverpool (for my money, the first possibly, the second doubtful).

Crouch will get Stoke plenty of goals in Europe, but few in the Premier League. He's a busted flush as far as opposing defenders are concerned.

If I was a betting man I'd go for 1. Man Utd, 2. Man City, 3. Chelsea, 4. Liverpool, 5. Arsenal, 6. Tottenham, 7. Stoke, with Norwich, Swansea and Blackburn relegated. I think Arsenal and Spurs are sort of hanging in the balance at the minute though, if the next month doesn't go well for them I think the wheels could fall of the wagon.

EDIT: Since others have done a whole table now I may as well stick my head on the line and follow suit!

I think we all know how its going to end vis-á-vis Stoke. They have to win the Europa League so that everyone can see the dream match in the UEFA Super Cup in Monaco...
