Grand Prix 2012 Brazilian Grand Prix Practice, Qualifying & Race Discussion

So it all comes down to the final race. The prancing horse versus the charging bull. The passionate Catalan versus the efficient German. Red versus Blue. Enough of the clichés, Vettel has a 13 point lead over Alonso going in to the race between the lakes so only has to finish in front of the Spaniard to claim his third title in a row. All the pressure will be on Ferrari and Alonso to give the Spaniard his third title and they probably need something to go wrong at Red Bull to stand any chance of winning, if their pace in the USA was anything to go by.

After his victory in the USA Lewis Hamilton will be hoping to leave McLaren on a high note. Lotus, surely, would love a second victory in 2012 but as fast as the car is it can't compete with the top 3 teams. Felipe Massa is starting to regain some of his old form and will, without doubt, be required to ride shotgun to Alonso. Mark Webber will be looking to win again at Interlagos but I doubt Vettel will suffer similar "brake" problems as he had last year.

The constructors championship is all sown up with Red Bull champions again. McLaren could steal 2nd place from Ferrari but a stronger performance from Jenson Button is needed in Brazil. Last year he was 3rd, two McLaren men in the top 4 could win them a few extra millions from FOM.

The final factor to build in is the weather. Brazil is notorious for changeable weather conditions and a sprinkling of rain could turn things Alonso's way. So tune next Sunday for the final event of 2012, but before then feel free to express your opinions below and don't forget to check out the circuit write up.

I'm sorry to have to say this ZakspeedYakspeed and I mean no offence but in my opinion what you are saying is complete nonsense, for one thing what on gods green earth would Bruno have to gain by doing what you are suggesting? In fact he had everything to loose as he is fighting for a seat in F1 next year and crashing into a title contender would do naff all to help his cause...

You can't come into a corner packed with cars from the outside and then aim at the apex and expect not to hit anything. A sensible clear headed Vettel would have done the wall of death around the outside as Alonso did. At least you can bail from there and don't have to worry about what everyone else is doing.

* MW got the firm request from the boss at RBR ... Horner (or was it Helmut :unsure:) to let SV past without fighting

* Seb confirmed that his wounded RBR was quicker in the wet than in the dry ... allowed him more flexibility with racing lines

* Apparently JB had a moment a few laps from the end in a puddle at the top of the hill leading down the pit straight and caught it ... that could have decided the WDC ... di Resta had a disagreement with the same puddle and was introduced rather suddenly to Mr B Rick Wall ...

* An excited Horner reeling off previous triple WDC's to Seb on the in lap after the race... he omited Prost... which Seb corrected him albeit his radio wasn't working so the Horn didn't get the feedback
 
Extreme Ninja ... the corner was not packed with cars when Vettel turned in ...

Bruno simply went for an opportunistic pass at his home race and it didn't pan out for him... in 18 out of the 20 other cases of a similar "coming together", the comee and the comer would have been out of the race...
 
I'll have to agree to disagree with you because I can look at that a hundred ways and my position is unlikely to change. If it was me on the inside I would have been jumping up and down outside the stewards office until they closed the book on it. That said, I wouldn't want it to be the deciding factor of someone else's championship, were I out of the hunt. Although, that doesn't change my viewpoint in normal conditions.

It was an aggressive move by Seb to sweep into the corner from a wide turn in point and hit the apex... it was also an aggressive and cheeky move by Bruno to try to get by two cars... four corners into lap 1... in greasy conditions.... on cold tyres... watching the replay again (and again...) Seb could have thought that Bruno was only passing Di Resta... Seb could also have left room...

I understand the Fernando and Ferrari are speaking to Williams about their "weak as piss" car that despite it's best efforts could not knock out Seb from the race.... twice... :givemestrength:

Had that occured Webber would have been sent through the pits to give Vettel an extra position.
 
Webber certainly seemed adament to cost Vettel the WDC. Live and let live went out the window in the very first corner; he basically made room for the Ferrari's on the outside. And then that failed overtake later on in the race. I really don't know what Webber was thinking. There was nothing to gain for him in either way; he too lost out in the first corner and ramming into the back of Vettel would have cost him as well.
