The Lewis Hamilton Circus

A lot of the blame must be apportioned to the BBC too.

I mentioned to the other half this weekend that the commentators were once again suggesting that Hamilton had a chance of taking pole from Vettel.
And only Hamilton.

It's the same every week.
Why not Button, or even Webber?
After all, Webber is the only other driver to qualify on pole this year so why do they constantly big-up Hamilton?

Take a look at the BBC F1 website today Bro - the Singapore race is lost in a "Hamilton lacks support says father" head line

**sigh**

Hmm. A British media outlet reporting the latest news about a British F1 driver who captures the attention of the British driver supporting majority. Dear me BBC, what were you thinking? Writing an article the majority of people want to read about and making it your headline story. It's not on, Beeb. Not on at all.

Judging by FB's article and the reaction on here by many British fan, I don't think that's what the "majority" of people want to read...

BBC is a national mass-media outlet. This is a public forum for enthusiasts and FB and a couple of others do not a national fan-base majority make. Other news outlets such as Autosport might be more appropriate for those who want internationally balanced news coverage.

Is this better FB?

Dear Meg
I always thought how unfair it was that some musicians were a lot more popular and famous than others. After all successful musicians and singers must all be talented, why should some get all the fame, headlines, fans, money, sex etc?

I tried to force myself to buy music equally from all artists in the top 10 but that didn't work, I found I never listened to them, only to the ones I really liked and enjoyed.

i tried forcing myself to sit through Top of the pops and listen equally to all these accomplished musicians, but that dint work, I kept going off to make tea when heavy metal bands started strangling the cat

One day though I realised that this was how the world worked, and that i was like everyone else, I had interests, opinions and views, which were mine. Same as everyone else. And when a singer was not just talented but appealed to many others like me, then that song became number 1.

I was free at last!

But, now years later, the same thing is happening to me with Formula 1. I would like to spend my time talking about all the drivers equally, but its not working

What do you suggest Meg?

I just watched the forum and the media have a lot to answer for. It may as well have been the Lewis Hamilton show with a few other bits thrown in. I guess when all the talk on the telly is about one person one naturally feels compelled to stay with that topic also when on the forum.

I wasn't watching Lewis at all at the end of the race, I was marvelling at Button's times, also thinking what a fantastic race young Paul was having and even at the beginning wondering how on earth Rosberg was not penalised or ordered to give places back (still don't understand that if someone can enlighten me). And let's not forget the great battle between Alonso and Webber.

Apologies I kind of don't think about Vettel now as his race weekend is so predictable and that lead he pulled so quickly was just ridiculous. What's he made, one mistake this season?

He didn't gain anything, well he did, but Massa took the position back in the a corner or two later...

Yeah I guess, but often those failed moves at the start would lead to some loss of places due to having the door closed and having to slow to avoid an incident. Not sure I agree with that as it prevented him losing places he may have had. But then he was only racing Massa... it's a difficult one but I think he was a lucky boy.

Dear Troubled-Teen

Thank you for writing with yet another of you deep and personal problems and before I answer this I hope my advice on your last problem worked and the cream cleared the problem up a trick.

We do understand your problem and it is a common case with Middle Class kids who try and attach themselves socialist ideas. Do you remember the days of Top Of The Pops? They'd always give a full play through of the number 1 wouldn't they? Very rare that I saw an episode of Top Of The Pops where they spent 50% of the programme talking about how rubbish a record at number 5 was and ignored the record breaking amazing new record at number 1, the fabulous new release by an old artist hitting number 2 and a brand spanking new artist having his biggest hit so far. Maybe you should apply this to your formula one watching. Remember is always much more fun to concentrate on people's success than people's constant failures.

I hope this advice helps and just to cheer you up I'll be sending you a copy of Jenson Button's latest DVD "My Greatest Races". I hope you enjoy.

All My Love

Meg.

I was just about to lock it and consign it to the bin. It appears some people are incapable of reasonable debate without it being taken as some sort of personal affront. Ho hum, time to brush up my German and move onto Bild magazine but then I'd get fed up with a bias toward Vettel and all the pomposity of his fans.

Let's hope Lewis wins the next 5 races so we don't have to put up with all the usual grief should he be unfortunate enough to be involved in another "incident".
