Current Robert Kubica

He's fast, Polish and a bloody brilliant racer. To me Kubica is a special talent and has been very unlucky to not find himself in a top team yet.

The thing i like about Kubica is that he's a trier and never gives in say if he was third and had a sniff of second he'd go and chase the second place man down. He's a much toned down version of Lewis Hamilton IMHO he's great at overtaking (Austrailla 2009) exception and if he was in a better car i think he'd a won more races than the current 1 he stands at.

Kubica made his F1 debut at the Hungrian GP in 2006 replacing the injuried Jacque Villeneuve for BMW Sauber. He'd outqualified teammate Nick Heidfeld at the time and finished the race in 7th place only to be DSQ for been under weight. Since Kubica's first and only Pole Position came at the 2008 Bahrain GP, that same season he'd broke his winning duck and won his current and only race in Canada. Kubica has stood on the podium 12 times and in his 76 race he's scored a total of 273 points.

Sad news broke eariler in the year (2011) that Kubica had been involved in a Rally competition and crashed, his life was said to be in the balance, but he's slowly recovering from nasty injuries he substaned in the accident. It remains to be seen whether Kubica will return to motor-racing. But for me Kubica is a talented driver and if we do see him back on the grid i'd be over the moon.

Whether you like him or not Kubica is a cool guy and one that i'd like to see become Champion if he return's to the sport.

How do you rate Kubica?

Ray was a knob

oh yeah if this is ray in toronto i know that :censored: from a different motorsport forum that im a refugee from (good job trump doesnt go on CTA as he would refused me entry ;) LOL) but anyway while we were doing well. he kept sending threatening messages to our admin. saying he was ruin us, going to shut us down. the more we blocked him the more he kept coming back with more threatening messages

but on Kubica. it wouldnt surprise me. this is guy who in 2010 performed miracles i remember that front row at monaco. & wasnt it said recently by someone in era of Vettel Alonso Hamilton, Kubica was the greatest of them all. but if he comes back i worry he can drive F1 car without any limitations. but isnt that abit like what famous managers once said dont ask a player day before big game like a Cup Final or Derby lf hes fit to play. because no way guy will ever say no

OK I'm prob going to be really unpopular here (not as unpopular as Ray it would seem) but I really Don't want Kubica to come back. He won't be as good and it'll make me sad. A bit like Schumacher when be came back. Would rather remember him how he was.

Remember when the Sex Pistols reformed? That sucked.

thats true they do say never go back. only eddie howe at bournemouth, is an example i can think of where someone left came back & it didnt go pearshaped

No comparison.
Lauda came back from his death bed after a few races and almost won the championship.
Kubica after a few seasons (maybe) and will be lucky to make the podium.

Harry Redknapp at Portsmouth worked out quite well second time around.

good point forgot he had to 2 spells. Although in hindsight the 2nd spell was a bit of disaster because it was winning the fa cup & bonus to payout that started their financial meltdown

but anyway off football. any chance that renault had no intentions of giving kubicas a drive & it really was just 1 off. but then he shocked everyone by delivering times like he did. they suddenly think we got fully research this & we cant turn down this pace if there is a chance

After all the negativity and people writing him off it would be wonderful to see him back and competitive, wouldn't it?

It would but surely there are better, younger drivers out there who deserve a seat? I agree Kubica's career was prematurely cut short but do we really need to bring drivers back?

The answer to that question has to be a resoundimg YES!

I don't for the life of me know what all is all that modern-day carry-on about wanting to push or keep older drivers out of the sport is all about. Beats me.

The drivers who most deserve a seat are the best ones, whether they're unproven or not, whether they' re rookies or 15 years-long in the sport. End of.

Kubica out on track today and his best lap so far, a 1.19.6 would have put him 17 on the grid at the weekend.

Not sure how the conditions compare but how close will he get to Palmer's 1.18.4 in Q2?
