After 2 quali wins for 2009 Champion Sebastian Vettel, the 11 drivers in this year's QWC have these points:

So little deviation on the top 10 so far, only Barrichello & Hamilton have been both in and out of the top order!

How does it work? Points and that?

Scrap that. It looks like race finishing points for qualifying positions. Is that correct?

Spot on genji.

QWC stands for Qualification World championship.

It throws up some interesting results compared to the actual WDC & WCC.

Red Bull Racing are already on double Ferrari's points in the Qualifying World Championship. Mercedes are well clear of McLaren after their débacle in Malaysia, and Sauber join the bottom of the party, leaving Toro Rosso as the only established team without representation.

Webber and Rosberg leapfrog the Ferarri drivers in the standings, with Vettel still sitting pretty. Adrian Sutil breaks the top 4 by moving ahead of Hamilton, and there are new points for Hulkenburg, Kobayashi and Liuzzi.

McLaren are having a disastrous season!

Thank goodness they have Sundays to redeem themselves else all would be lost!

What's interesting though is just how different the QWC is from the actual WDC and WCC.

Everyone pretty much expected Red Bull to be way ahead by now but that isn't the case.

Re: QWC2010 - Spain

Red Bull are buggering off into the distance with an astonishing 202 points already accrued. Vettel has already beat the 100 mark, Webber is 6 shy.

Interesting battle for second place with Mac, Merc and Ferrari all in touching distance of one another; Alonso is clear with Rosberg in 3rd and 4th with Massa, Button and Hamilton in close combat.

Kobayashi ensures a second appearence for himself and Sauber and ousts Sutil from the top 10 seen in Bahrain and China.

Considering Red Bull have been on pole for all 5 races, it's no surprise they top the charts.

What is surprising is that they are only 3rd in the WCC and their drivers are only 5th and 8th in the WDC.

I expect that to change as they get a handle on their reliability issues though.

Clearly Red Bull's dominance of this chart is obvious, and I feel they would be in a similar position in the WDC had Australia and China not been wet.

As the table from 2004 shows, a good QWC performance (Williams) does not imply a good Championship performance (88 pts).

Rememver also that in 2005 Takuma Sato picked up 21 QWC points and 1 WDC points. Its all about converting good Quali form into Race form, and Red Bull are yet to demonstrate they can do that when McLaren and Ferrari are not stupidly recovering from a Q1 exit.

The big winner is of course Robert Kubica; Rosberg takes the lead in the battle for third after Alonso's DNS.

Disaster for '800' boys Ferrari! Webber moves into the lead, Hamilton lays chase to Rosberg for 3rd and Petrov enters the list - there is now a clear division between the top 9 and the rest.

Despite their first defeat of the season Red Bull still lead this Championship with more than double McLaren's points. Hamilton has moved clear of the rest of the field into third place. Schumacher is falling back from the 8 above him.

The Force was strong in Canada, moving above Williams into 7th place, whilst Ferrari pass Mercedes for 3rd. Either Webber or Vettel would be leading the Constructors' Championship if the other's points did not count.

When you consider McLaren are leading the WCC and both their drivers are 1-2 in the WDC, it just shows how poor Red Bull have been at converting poles into race wins, or even points/finishes in some cases.

A small point to make, I've awarded Hulk and Barrichello 3 points each for a tie on the 4 and 2 point positions

After Hock, Red Bull's shedding of points is going critical. But on topic, a maximum ONE HUNDRED over the last 4 races for King of Saturday Sebastian Vettel.

Ferrari have jumped over McLaren into second.

Mark Webber breaks Seb Vettel's pole run. Robert Kubica moves up to the dizzying heights of 6th, and McLaren draw level with Ferrari.
