Queensferry Crossing, HMS Queen Elizabeth and all things Royal Navy

This abomination was in Portsmouth today. No it's not a floating prison, apparently you are supposed to go on this thing for pleasure.

It’s got a scarlet funnel stack, or whatever it is.

I think they have painted it grey so that when the government requisition it to go to war, it will look more like a very modern war ship.

It has to have a bit of colour somewhere otherwise you wouldn't see it on an overcast sky in the north Atlantic or Scottish waters:)

Cruise liners these days are so ugly it's unbelievable. They've given up any pretence of them actually looking like ships.

Economy of scale.

The same principle has been applied to apartment buildings for a long time.

Why only have 200 rooms in a specific footprint when you can have 600.

One day one of these leviathans is going to fall over in a storm they have no draft compared to their height and their machinery is also light. They specifically run for shelter or drastically alter course to avoid any storms, their size indicates that the rolling an pitching would be minimal in up to force 8 seas

Just thinking about my earlier comment, it would make a fabulous floating prison. We could anchor it just outside French territorial waters and then when any of the unpleasant people on board dive over the side they would head to France. An interesting exchange for all the migrants the French kettle up in Calais and then encourage into dinghies to cross The Channel.

Well it’s certainly closer in appearance to a prison than a pleasure ship. There doesn’t appear to be much deck to walk around, if the top bit is a deck then you would need to take a ticket for your allotted time in the sea air, they would never get everyone up there at one time. So no deck sports, or sun loungers.
in fact the more you study it, the worse it becomes.

They are designed for spending money in onboard casinos and shopping malls, the cruise bit is a night time dash to the next location for a 6 hour excursion then back to the cash collector:whistle:

Here you go Bill Boddy. If the French Government cared about these people it would offer them citizenship, a home of some kind, or at least facilities beyond tents and shipping containers (note - the tents are supplied by the Red Cross and other humanitarian agencies not the French Government).

The natural consequence of France leaving these people to live in abject poverty and squalor is that they will attempt to cross The Channel where the UK authorities will offer them significantly better conditions. Whether that is in Migrant Centres, B&B's or other locations it is not sleeping rough on former landfill sites.

But the first two of those are talking about moving possible migrants away from the coast FB. The third doesn't say anything about making it easier to get carriage to the coast.

If you mean that what the French are doing is inhuman I would strongly agree but then I would say that what is being done in our name by our our glorious Home Secretary is equally inhumane : what is being proposed we do in concert with the Danes is pretty much the same.

If an illegal immigrant knocked on your front door and demanded that you gave them a room. And food. And money. And that you must also invite the rest of their family to stay. Would you?
