Head To Head Nico Rosberg vs Lewis Hamilton

If at this point you look at F1 in the microcosm of Mercedes and not in the macrocosm of the whole then over all I would have to say that Lewis deserves the championship more than Nico but if Nico drives his heart out in the last three races and beats Lewis fair and square then I think maybe they would both be equal on worthiness, but it has been a one team championship and no mistake...

It is very strange but Nico has no one first ratings in the f1fanatic.co.uk vote on the season's races

Nice to see Jules has one though.

snowy...... My understanding is that the double points have been deemed a mistake by Bernie himself and they will not be implemented again in future seasons.

My belief is Hamilton will take the championship deservedly. Nine wins so far are extraordinary. Whenever he's finished he's extracted the absolute maximim from his car. This is not intended to diminish Ricciardo's performances but two of his three wins were achieved when Hamilton's car failed and his third win in Hungary came after Hamilton's car failed in qualifying and he was forced to drive through from 22nd on the grid to 3rd. Hamilton has been flawless all season and double points won't make any difference unless he strikes a very bad run of luck or Rosberg manages to find something he's been unable to find all season.

With the double points on offer all Hamilton needs is a 15 point advantage going into the last race assuming there's another Mercedes one-two. With 50 points for the win and 38 for second, even if Rosberg won the last race it wouldn't be enough for him to take the title, providing Hamilton comes 2nd. Hamilton already has a 17 point advantage and is likely to extend that further in the final races so hopefully double points will be meaningless.

The disgraceful thing about double points is that Hamilton could win the next 2 taking his tally up to 11 for the season and still fail to win the title if he DNF's in Abu Dhabi, if that happens I'm expecting an uproar of immense proportion and total internet meltdown.

Bernard Charles Ecclestone will be rubbing his hands with glee as his plan to stop a dominating driver have a chance of winning the title has come to fruition.

It would be ironic that the ruling that would have stopped Vettels stranglehold on the WDC means Hamilton fails to take his 2nd title.

Wasn't it Bernie who suggested the medal system to ensure the driver with the most wins took the title?

Bernie is nothing if not consistent... Bernie is nothing if consistent... Bernie is nothing like consistent... getting there...Bernie is nothing if not inconsistent... is that a triple negative?

Chop a line now...
his gotta fancy gotta go job...
where the decisions that he makes today...

Decisions, decisions, decisions...

the double points system was for to stop Vettel romping away to the title and make it exciting till the end of the race or it probably because Bernie's Arab friends would be prepared to pay more money to Bernie to host the last race and promise him some big party and indulgence afterwards

If this championship is decided because of double points it will be a travesty.
Incidents and mechanical failures/problems are part of F1 and will never cease and can't be controlled by a rule book. That has to be accepted.

It would also be a very hollow victory for Rosberg. He would take it, but never during his life would he feel as though he deserved it, which would be sad for Rosberg also.
