Current Lewis Hamilton

A place to put all the posts from all the other threads primarily but love him or hate him, and even for the indifferent amongst us this is the place to discuss the marmite that is Lewis Hamilton, to learn a thing or two about his rise, talk about those controversial, genius or mad moments and something that i am bemused by, the recent articles that suggest something quite different to my perception of what's going on. Any experiences of meeting LH?

Brundle had to write a Lewis Hamilton article recently and in my tweets (which were probably ignored) I asked him to talk about LH the driver not LH the personality. It seems that you can't have one without the other.

So as a starter for ten, here is a fairly recent LH article. Posts should not be limited to this link but it can get some discussion going. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/formula_one/13755883.stm

The only banned topic as it is clearly ridiculous involves these four things "Glock" "2008" "Brazil" "conspiracy"

Have you watched the moves he's making though? Monaco on Massa 2011 aside he's barely doing anything different. What has changed is this attitude of "I'm on the racing line therefore I'd rather take you out than give you room" attitude.

Mansell has made some very outrageous, unnecessary, and un-called for comments regarding Lewis, which had nothing to do with his so-called........Petulance..!!
Like for example please if they are so called outrageous and unneccessary

I don't see how he should behave like a world champion is anything outrageous

Also was it not Lewis Hamilton who said Fernando Alonso showed him how not to behave as a world champion. Some of Lewis' outburst are just as bad if not worse than Alonso. For a start the number of times he's had a go at his team in front of the cameras he would get an absolute rollicking from Ron Dennis..he is lucky Whitmarsh is more lenient. With that behaviour he has no chance of surviving at Ferrari and would test Red Bull's as well

I don't think that it's fair to level that criticism solely at Lewis Hamilton as nearly every driver on the grid (and historically) has made some criticism of their team at some point - whether it be some aspect of the car, a strategy call, the management (or lack of).

its the way Lewis goes about it openly critical of his team like in MOnaco

Like I said if Ron Dennis was still team principal he would be told to SHUT UP

I have yet to hear either Toro Rosso drivers or Sauber drivers criticise their teams, when both rightly should.

EDIT: I just noticed how ridiculous that sounded, Kobayashi should be aplogising to Sauber for the loss of 133 front wings in the past 2 seasons!

If they've fucked up his race why not say so? Lucky Ron Dennis has never been in charge of Barrichello or Webber who openly accused their team of favouring the other driver, or Vettel who was quite disgraceful about his team mate, or Button who seems to take a fair amount of glory for himself when he wins but any other time it's not his fault, it's the car/tyres (built by who??).

Whistpers: Swear filter....swear filter....edit...quick...before...Brogan or FB come along and give you a....warning.

Can I ask, who was Vettel being disgraceful about?

As far as I can recall there have been only two or three occasions when Hamilton has criticised his team and he has been plenty self critical as well. He is not the only driver to do that, nor will he be the last. Mansell was very famous for it which is one of the reasons, I believe, that he fell out with Frank Williams.

I would suggest that the expectations of those driving for middle rank teams are somewhat lower and that they understand why their teams aren't performing at a higher level and probably feel obliged to allow some latitude. The same cannot be said for a team with two world champions driving for it. Their expectations are very much higher as will be their feelings when silly errors cost them.

Don't bother to quote me as I find this kind of person bashing debate utterly boring. Generally I don't get involved but I started the evening in a good mood and rather than let it fester I felt the need to say something. I'm outa this thread to have fun elsewhere.

:p

Feel free to delete my comment I am just in a weird mood today LOL

Seems equally appropriate to post this.

Thanks Tacitus. People need to be reminded sometimes that exactly ONE person has ever retired due to on-track (I know about Canada's pit lane) contact with Lewis. And that's after 5 full years of tooth and nail combat with anybody and everybody.

I don't think some rim failures, one qualifying and race shunt, and some practice mistakes indicate the guy is error prone. We are going on 89 meetings now.

Just because he doesn't retire from collisions or someone else for that matter doesn't mean he isn't "error prone" this season from Monaco onwards, he has been that.

Yes he's deemed as the new crash kid, yes it's harsh, but it was also harsh on Vettel who got the same amount of venom.

And I agree that it should die down a little as it is getting a bit.... "meh"

If you think it should die down why did you feel the need to make that post?
