Current Lewis Hamilton

A place to put all the posts from all the other threads primarily but love him or hate him, and even for the indifferent amongst us this is the place to discuss the marmite that is Lewis Hamilton, to learn a thing or two about his rise, talk about those controversial, genius or mad moments and something that i am bemused by, the recent articles that suggest something quite different to my perception of what's going on. Any experiences of meeting LH?

Brundle had to write a Lewis Hamilton article recently and in my tweets (which were probably ignored) I asked him to talk about LH the driver not LH the personality. It seems that you can't have one without the other.

So as a starter for ten, here is a fairly recent LH article. Posts should not be limited to this link but it can get some discussion going. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/formula_one/13755883.stm

The only banned topic as it is clearly ridiculous involves these four things "Glock" "2008" "Brazil" "conspiracy"

ROFL I am astounded that there are people out there who think Lewis' " more passionate fans" can't appreciate F1 when their favourite driver is nowhere. What a condescending attitude!! I wonder what such people think these "passionate fans" did before Lewis entered f1? Especially the ones who've been following f1 for several decades!
As a "passionate Lewis fan", I don't expect top results for Lewis next year, but Im hugely excited to see what he can do in the Mercedes. For me, the skill, the battling, the talent, the excitement is far more important than the results, though of course wins are hugely satisfying. Lewis in a Mercedes 2013......bring it on!!!

:thankyou: :thankyou:

I'm looking forward to some of the more passionate of his fans learning to appreciate the sport for what it is and loving a race even if their favourite is nowhere.

I have wondered if 'The Hulk'....will be remembered as being German who helped get another ...the WDC 2012 by clobbering the race leader..LH..out of the race.........:censored::censored:

Thank you.

Surely no one actually believes Hulkenberg crashing into Lewis helped Vettel win the title? Surely they don't right?

I might be barking up the wrong tree here but I took F1ang-o's comments to mean the exact opposite as to how they have been taken. I thought she was making the comment about Hulkenberg to show how easy it is to twist events, comments , accidents by drivers and show them in the wrong light. Annoying though it was to have Lewis taken out of the race after all the bad luck he's had, It was exactly that, an unfortunate accident. Some drivers have everything overanalysed. I thought she was using this example to illustrate that point. Correct me if Im wrong F1ang-o

racecub - It proved the exact opposite of that; that it isn't easy to twist events, comments and accidents because it could be immediately be debunked by anyone with half a knowledge of the situation.

One would hope so @teabagyokel and yet look how the rumours persisted after the 2008 championship, that Glock moved aside for Hamilton. Rumours not only on radio and newspapers but on F1 forums where one expects a little more. So I think f1ang-o had a point, if indeed that is how she wanted her comment to be interpreted, as I said, I may be barking up the wrong tree , so I'll leave It at that .

Yes but the rumours persisted because it helped Lewis win the title. In no way shape or form did the Hulkenberg crash decide any championship for anyone. They are completely different points. Not even comparable.

I suppose it's just conceivable that it might have entered Hulk's head that he could help his countryman become WDC by taking out the race leader, but it's wildly off beam as a theory in my opinion. I'm a pretty full-on Hamilton supporter, but that one never occurred to me; I'm absolutely sure the only thought in Hulk's mind was winning the race for himself and for Force India.

Can anyone imagine, for example, Jenson Button deliberately crashing into Vettel if he'd been in a similar situation and he thought it might help Lewis? I think not.

Rumors persisted with those who would look for any excuse to try and devalue Lewis winning of the 2008 WDC. Many of these detractors, I guarantee never have seen the lap times of both Timo Glock and his teammate Jarno Trulli, on that very same last lap.

Last lap 2008 Brazilian GP

Timo Glock..........1:44.731
Jarno Trulli..........1:44.800
Lewis Hamilton....1:26.126

Hamilton's time clearly show why he was able to catch and pass Glock, but that wouldn't have happend if Lewis didn't continue to push and had never givenup, which he showed IMO on that last lap the true heart of a......CHAMPION!

Not wanting to drag out this aside, I thought the onboard footage from Glock was the most telling - unable to accelerate hard due to wheelspin, steering breaking away at the slightest opportunity etc. Anyone but the most blinkered should have understood exactly why Glock's lap time plummeted. :givemestrength:
